    low utility, high price, ugly

      low utility,

not sure what you mean. for productive people it's a keyboard you can use at home, throw in a bag quickly without worrying about weight or battery life. can connect and switch between laptop, tablet on the fly.

the most common keyboards are MX keys mini, Magic keyboard, and this is an alternative.

if you are always at your desk at home, then a chunky heavy custom keyboard is fine. 💁‍♀️

  • Not worth $20

  • 222g

    • fyi MX keys mini is 500g.

      • I have a nuphy air60 and thats 453g. But with a case for a stand its extra.

        • +1

yeah the Keys to Go 2 is light. which is what I assumed you were saying with 222g.

also the magnetic cover on the Keys to Go 2 can be removed, which will make it even lighter, except I recommend you keep it attached and use it because it prevents accidental turn on and protects the keys long term.

also Keys to Go (1) was a flop. was basically a mushy mess with a firm one piece silicone top layer with just raised silicone spots for the keys, also pretty sure it had built in non replaceable battery. but Keys to Go 2 is a massive improvement with great typing feel according to reviews, which is why I have been waiting forever to drop in price. $129.95 was too much, but this is almost $50 discount.

          • @n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm: Yeah, just weight is an important factor when deciding on portable devices (but also on feel and premium-ness, which usually goes the other way).

      • Interesting, the mx keys mini is surprisingly heavy. Not that much less for a mx keys than my incredibly solid leopold fc660 mbt at 700g. Worth the extra weight for the feels though.

        • Good find OP. I just bought the Logitech Pop Icon Keys for about $60. I looked closely at weights too, as this is going into my laptop bag as my work hotdesks have horrendously dirty and poor quality keyboards.

Keys to Go 2 is 222g, Pop Icon Keys is 530g, MX Keys Mini is 506g, MX Keys (normal) is 810g. In the end I went with Pop Icon Keys because it has full size arrow keys. I know it's blasphemous to say, but I like the typing experience more on this than my MX Keys! Pig Up, Pig Down, Home, End keys are programmable which is nice. All this computer hacking is making me thirsty, I think I'll order a Tab.

Been waiting for this to drop as well. Had an alert in place forever. Thanks OP.

  • This looks like a re-hash of the K380, with a cover.

    • k380 is double the weight though.

      • +1

But half the price. I remember getting the K380 around 40 bucks back in 2018.
I still have it by the way. It has outlasted 3 of my tabs. ha ha ha

  • The cover doesn't really protech the keys and it has a missed opportunity of making it to fold onto a stand to prop your table or phones etc

    • in most videos you can see the cover has a raised border, and it magnetically keeps closed so the force of magnet is always pulling. the border is raised there to protect and keep it from pushing the keys even with the magnetic force.

yes it's thin and light, but imo the damage to keys will come from a sideways impact on the key. such as something like a ruler in your bag hitting a key side ways. the cover will definitely protect from that.
the keys are built to go up and down so they should withstand some force since your finger will be doing that multiple times a day.

it probably won't survive a strong hit by something thin like a stair rail, but you wouldn't have the keyboard in your hand swinging out as you walk anyway. 💁‍♀️

here is one of the better reviews if you are interested. https://youtu.be/8CUENeVgBIM

      • From the video you linked:

At 6:20 it shows how the cover doesn't prevent accidental presses on the keys. So this cover is more to prevent scratches.

At 7:30 the Youtuber wishes the same feature that I mentioned above which is the foldable cover to prop portable devices.

        • just before he presses down on the cover, he says it protects from accidental impacts.

maybe my comment above is too long to understand properly, but what I was saying was because of the border, the cover is not constantly pressing down on all keys. if all keys are fully pressed down already, it makes them easy to damage with impact. the border on the cover prevents this.

I also did say any direct strong accidental impact such as stair rail, will most likely damage. there are many compromise this keyboard makes to be lightweight. such as using replaceable coin battery instead of built in lithium and USB-C charging, it's all to reduce thickness and save weight. can't expect such a light and thin keyboard to be very strong. and to be fair MX keys mini and Magic keyboard will probably have similar strength, they don't come with any cover at all.

guy in video also just pressing down strongly for demonstration. he does the same to test the "flex" of the keyboard itself by pressing down strongly in the centre without the cover on to see how much it bends. I don't really recommend doing either if you buy this $95 keyboard.

          • @n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm: To be honest, I didn't mind about anything about this keyboard… I just wished I don't need to carry separate stands for tablets or phones etc

            • @meong: cases with stands built in would be an option.

or if you have iPad, maybe the Logitech Slim Folio keyboard for iPad? and you can just open it up and rest your phone on the iPad to type on it. but it doesn't have quick switch keys for connected bluetooth devices, in the user manual pdf though it does say how to connect to "another" iPad, so you can connect it to a 2nd device such as phone. not sure how the switching will work though, if you turn the screen off on one, it might connect to the other device which is awake?

currently $134 for the 10th Gen, 11th Gen iPad version. it was posted on ozb for $89 but in 2023 so that one is the older 5th to 9th gen compatible version.

              • @n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm: Yeah, getting a specific folio keyboard for specific devices is not preferable cause the idea is to make this keyboard to be as versatil with different devices.

In the past I used Logitech K480 which has a slit to prop devices but it required the keyboard to be heavy so it doesn't topple when you have a tablet mounted on it.

I have used few multi-device keyboards in the past but basically it will only try to reconnect to 1 device at a time until you press Fn + device selector buttons which are shown as 1, 2 and 3 as you can see on the keyboard.
