Why get this over a bluetooth headphone that can also work with other appliances?
Delay. If you've ever tried using bluetooth headphones for the length of a movie you'll notice the audio and video de-synchronising from one another. Some modern televisions have a feature to prevent it, but I notice my LG C1 desync when using Bose QC2. Radio frequency headphones are a dated technology but it doesn't have the delay issues that Bluetooth has.
Also, these are cheaper through Good Guys commercial, if you have access.
"Delay" can be avoided with low latency BT. I have the pxc550ii in conjunction with avantree transmitter and sync is spot on
.No good for multiple listeners. But yes, I use an Avantree LL transmitter.
I have a pair, my use case was my TV and soundbar both don't have bluetooth out, I had too many devices to connect to individually and multipoint bluetooth still only supports 2 devices. This is easy, plugged into the TV, switch it over to headphone out and I get it from whichever device without latency.
Also stemmed from having really bad luck with trying to add bluetooth dongles to the TV. Next TV I'll actually read the specs and make sure it has bluetooth out.
Plus they're comfy, zero delay, nice neutral sound for TV/movies and battery life is great (plus it's just normal rechargeables in there but also charges on the stand).
Just be warned the plastic cracks and starts disintegrating off the ear muffs after 18 months (well it does in the Qld humidity).
I just peeled it all off and actually prefer it without……great headphones for the TV.Replacement pads from the RS185 are nicer than the RS175 ones.
Your link 404'd, but found them after a bit of a search

Oops!
If you live in unit with neighbours who complain about noise, this is must have to enjoy that awesome movie experience without compromising on volume
I had the RS220 that also used the 2.4gHz and I suffered regular dropouts whether using the coaxials or the Digital Optical. Those headphones are 12 years old, but I do wonder if this is an inherent problem when using such a crowded spectrum?
These work great I have them, my only complaint is that they're not noise cancelling which at this price bracket seems remiss
Just wait for LE Audio, preferably LC3 Plus Low Latency. Finally hitting the market Q1 2022.
Could have sworn this was $150 or less when there was a Sennheiser sale on Amazon.
Just wondering if you have a source for that Q1 eta for LE Audio. I've been waiting forever.
https://www.qualcomm.com/products/snapdragon-8-gen-1-mobile-…
It also supports Snapdragon Sound technology for 16-bit 44.1kHz CD Lossless wireless music streaming, as well as LE Audio implementations—a Snapdragon first.
I'd heard mutterings that it had finally been ratified, and this confirms that.
No, we're still not there yet.
https://www.bluetooth.com/learn-about-bluetooth/recent-enhan…I've heard early Q1 2022 as well, but not from any authoritative source. Not sure what it is with manufacturers claiming LE Audio compatibility before ratification of the full set of specs, unless all the specifications they need for their product have already been ratified.
Anyway, I agree. LE Audio will end this class of product eventually.
I bought the older model cost $99 and they were pretty good.
These RF headphones are starting to phase out. Not many selling them. Great sound, longer distance transmission even through walls (better than Bluetooth distance) and easily recharge them on the stand with normal rechargeable batteries (2 x AAA size). I use them daily and love it. Avoid the RS120 model though, which has below average sound.
I had RS170's which I returned in the past … at low volume levels they had electronic noise as well as going to sleep and then taking a second or two to wake up in scenes with very low noise levels. Hopefully they have fixed these issues.
Personally I use Momentum 3's with Avantree Orbit APTX-LL taking audio from SPDIF out. Works well
at low volume levels they had electronic noise as well as going to sleep and then taking a second or two to wake up in scenes with very low noise levels.
This sort of issue happens if you have the source volume too low. You need to have the source level high and then control the volume at the headphones.
