I just bought 4x $100 Ultimate Home Gift Card from coles for $340 making it essentially $344.10.
Not a bad price for local stock.

I bought a 18TB couple of weeks back from Amazon and the drive arrived dead. When checking warranty, it says out of region. I know you can get better prices at Amazon at times but for some this may be a good choice if you want local stock

They gave me a $10 coupon too redeemable by 24th December

$33.675 per TB before gift cards.

  • My 18 TB from Amazon Black Friday deal arrived 2 days ago and is still under the Extended Diag SMART Test. It was roughly $410

    • Mine still isnt here and hasnt updated since 25th nov. ordered 20th
Was meant to come Last Wednesday

    • $410 for 18Tb? That’s great I bought mine for $449+delivery and now I have to return it as it won’t even initialise on my pc and laptop using multiple cables and ports. I rather buy from JB, anything goes wrong I change it around the corner. Not the best price but worth the support etc. convenient

      • It requires it own power supply

        • Thanks but with no power supply it won’t turn on. Plugged the JB one didn’t even need initialisation. It opened up a folder with wd app on it. Used JB power and USB cord on the Amazon one no good.
Is there a specific software you use for testing so I can use before copying my stuff on it?

Is price with discounted giftcards headline appropriate? It can be quite difficult to get them for a lot of people.

      I second this statement.

  • These 16-18TB drives are running extremely hot, mine was 59C while surface scan, obviously will be even hotter of ambient temperature rises even more in the summer.

    • De-shelled my 16TB that came a few weeks ago and wacked it in my PC. It has 4x 8TB WD reds sitting below it. Its running about 39c where as the 8s are generally around 37c - though that is idle

    • I used a cheap USB fan on mine when I was running a full zeroing. That kept the temps under 45C max. But yes, without some kind of airflow the temps just keep building up.

Anyone have experience shucking this drive? Wonder if they'll be ok in my NAS or if get WD Red is a safer bet.

Yes. I've got 5 of them running in my file server. I'm not sure if the 3.3v issue will be a problem for your NAS; the earlier disks I have (EMAZ) didn't need the 3.3v mod, but the latest one (EMFZ) did.

Yikes these have gone up. Paid $281 13 months ago.

  • Did Amazon or JB give you the $10 coupon?

    • +1

JB gave me $10 coupon not sure why, maybe because I gave them mobile number for digital invoice, can be redeemed tomorrow as I couldn’t use it for the other purchase I made today

  • This one is $389.46 on Amazon (US via AU) if you can be bothered to contact WD for an AU plug.
But even better is the 14TB for $400.77

    • Wow - now $396.20 for the 14TB
