270

There were a few discussions previously about it and I'm not a fan of how it works but what you can say when it's free?
Just will need to subscribe to their newsletter. 17 hrs left from the time of posting

Description from the giveaway page:
Making use of advanced AI processes and an intuitive workflow, Luminar 4 from Skylum is an efficient tool for editing and managing a library of images in an effective, seamless, and non-destructive manner. No worries, I followed your original link but when I realised it took you to a second signup page figured skipping a step would appeal to the OzB community. Teamwork makes the deal work!

Thanks OP! Been wanting this for ages!

  • Is the activation key time-limited ? Or can it be installed later and still activate ok ?

    • It didn't state that in their email, so assume not time-limited

    thank you OP <3

  • Been a long time user of Luminar 4 on a Mac. It’s got some great features, but has a heap of bugs, and is generally slow as molasses. It was never optimised to work with the M1 either.

Free is free but just be cautious that there is no real upgrade path if you invest your time here.

    • Just wait another year for a new version giveaway ;). For some, it will be more than enough to do their editing. If you make money from photography then I wouldn't rely on this product but who knows, they might become better

  • "but what you can say when it's free?"

Well, you could say "Because my time isn't worth nothing at all, I'll just buy something that works well and consistently."

    • Haha that's why I went back to Adobe… I have grabbed a free license to try again but I doubt they've improved it much as their forums are flooded with complaints of how buggy and slow it is.

I have used both Luminar 4 and now AI …

    Luminar 4

Pros: Great for light touch ups, preset filters

Cons: Buggy, very slow for manual adjustments, used on a Xeon workstation and mid-spec Surface Pro 5 not optimised for Windows/x86 platform (compared to Mac), simple things such upgrading to the latest version would not work on vanilla installed Windows PCs (better to full uninstall and reinstall), clunky interface

It is not Adobe Lightroom, which I find is both faster and easier to make more difficult adjustments, but I did use it when I wanted to make adjustments on the fly to images and not require the quality and granular tools Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop provides.

Luminar Ai is a much smoother experience though it has taken a long time for many of the features promoted to be added over time with upgrades. It still has strange bugs i.e. a few nights ago after saving an image the menus in the application would freeze and would require restart. This would self resolve after an hour. Performance is slow on mid spec PCs. I do use this application (AI) now for quick edits where I am not looking for the highest quality.

  • Will this auto upgrade to version 4.3 after installing?

  • Confirming the subscription doesn't work. 404 page.

    Update:

Just tested with some random CR2 & DNG files after installing version 4.3.0 (6886). The speed is really good, some changes are instantaneous while some take just couple of seconds. Much better experience than the last time when I tried version 3 from previous giveaway.

I used Windows offline installer from : https://community.skylum.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360009…
