  • Not bad for entry level HT, amp has decent array of inputs including HDMI and sub+speakers look reasonable enough.

Modular nature means you can upgrade speakers down the track too.

Also looks like the 5.1 pack for $349 is new where as the individual components are 'seconds'.

i bought the one before this for ~$119 and its surprisingly good… hook it to some decent speakers and its very very listenable and would kill 'HT in a box' systems dead

i wonder if this can actually process the HDMI input or just passes it thru? (the manual is in that link)

if it can process/decode hdmi its even more awesome

    • Which Home Theatre setup is better? this sherwood one or this pioneer from JB

      • Pioneer amp looks a little better with extra HDMI input, but they have largely the same features.

Overall they would be similar. Hard to choose between them without hearing them both, but at this price range, they probably sound the same.

  • I have the $179 receiver, very good haven't had any troubles with it.
However I bought it for ~$200 last year so it's hardly RRP $500..
Despite their price claim a good solid thing does a good job :)

  • could i use one of these receivers for a home dj setup?

    cheers

    • Why couldn't you? They will certainly output enough power. I would go for the stereo one if it's for a dj setup.
