Miops is still running their Black Friday deals and seem to have removed the countdown from their website, so I assume this deal will be running all weekend. Miops manufacture a range of camera accessories, designed to enhance the capabilities of just about any DSLR/Mirrorless from almost every camera brand on the market.

I discovered Miops in 2014 on Kickstarter when they ran their original 'Miops: Smartphone Controllable High Speed Camera Trigger' campaign. I have since purchased several of their other camera accessories including the RemotePLUS, Capsule360, Slide+, Mobile Dongle and the new version of their original trigger, the Smart+. I have trialled just about every feature that each of their products offers, and whilst some features are there to make life easier, others open up a whole new world of possibilities that I would struggle to be able to capture without the Miops devices. For example, the inbuilt automatic lightning trigger in the RemotePLUS, Smart and Smart+ (and FLEX but I haven't used this one) have allowed me to leave cameras setup on the roof of my apartment building during electrical storms, whilst I stay safe and dry inside. My cameras have caught some amazing strikes without me having to put myself at risk. I have also done a whole bunch of motion timelapses using a combination of the Capsule360s and Slide+. The remotes are all controlled via the Miops app on either iPhone or Android, so you just set your camera up, then select the function you want to use via the app. With NYE coming up and fireworks, the lightning setting works really well to capture these, otherwise you can set your camera to bulb mode and use the 'press & hold' feature, meaning you can start and finish the capture whenever you want, without having to touch the camera or guess how long an explosion will last!
