This!!! I was warned that the UK version does not have as much bandwidth compared to other country versions, hence the cheaper price!
not confirmed anywhere but here is some info - Until 2017, Band C required a licence from Ofcom in the UK and was used for fixed wireless links. It has now been made available for general use. In 2020 the requirement for DFS in band C was also removed.
Been looking for more info on this - does that mean firmware should open up band C in the future, or still best to be steering clear of UK routers?
@ult1m4tum: from what i can gather this law stopped being so in 2020 - any router you buy that was build after this date should be all ok unless someone can prove otherwise - and i have been looking all over net with no confirmation that anything on uk router is different to Australian apart from the uk plug
I myself have uk router and have no speed issue or coverage issues
@botchie: thanks for the update - picked up the UK ASUS RT-AX82U the other day, so been worried
Good to hear you've had no issues with a UK router though, cheers
@ult1m4tum: yeah i got similar

$390 in Australia vs $150 uk - real no brainer for this imaginary band c possible issue that no one can confirm
best I found was some issues if you have 300 connections on your router and use air mesh
for 99.9% of ppl it means nothing
also if you dont like it you can return in 30 days no questions asked
@botchie: ohh yeah - definitely a sweet deal!
Couldn't imagine having that many connections, not until all my mugs all come with wifi
Officeworks has the 2 pack for $399 (Australian stock)
Different model it's the ASUS ZenWiFi XD6 (lower specs, see Asus website for a comparison)
he is selling his stock
as he says you will notice on the Europe model is the lack of WiFi channels above channel 149, i.e. the channels used by 5GHz_2 band. This is also the default backhaul channel range. If you are planning to use this with Australian AiMesh compliant routers in its lifetime, I will suggest to avoid 100%
basically if you are planning to use this with Australian AiMesh compliant routers do not buy UK
if you buy 2 uk and use them as mesh - its no problem
Thanks @ashopper. Looks like I'll have to cancel my order :(
Regarding UK banned Wifi 6 Band c, based on this document, Band C is classified for outdoor use only, its maximum power is 4x Band B and 20x Band A.
May be it is banned for a reason and Australian regulator is slowed to ban them regarding health concern? Any thought on this guys? I am actually worry about my family health than wifi strength

they are not banned in uk - you just needed to purchase a licence to use them
that is now no longer the case - same rule as here
which mean it's better to take the UK version!
As I understand it, the UK version also doesn't come with an AU plug adapter
Also - currently $649 and instock @ JBHIFI if you're ok with the black version

Thanks! I saw this, also found it on OzBargain after, and realised with 15% off gift cards from Coles this week, it brings it down to circa $540ish. No brainer for local stock vs UK grey import.
Recap: for asus router with pppoe login replacing the default TP-link from TPG, you need to
UK routers don't have 5GHz band c.
