$58 when you select price beat button via Good Guys

  • $68 at Harvey Norman and you could PriceMatch at Officeworks which is currently $70. I've now set up PriceWatcher for this product as well across pretty much everywhere.

I have 2x TP LInk Decos. Can I mesh them with this? How does someone work out know what mesh is compatible with what?

    • +1

I had this before and the app showed that a TPlink Wifi extender which was being used in my home and option to add it as mesh.

    • +2

No you have to add more Deco's to a Deco mesh Wi-Fi network.

TP-Link Archer AX10 uses a different mesh setup called OneMesh or EasyMesh.

What can those $300+ routers do that this cant? Better Wifi range and speeds?

    • Yes.

      • unless you pay top money for more than gigalan nbn , else, what's the use of the extra bandwidth of the router?

        • 1Gb NBN isnt big money, you can get it for $100 or less per month. But yeah if you are a light user in a household without a lot of other users and devices then the features would be a waste.

    • +1

If you are talking about internet speeds, that depends on your internet plans.
Expensive routers offer more range, feature sets which might be helpful in some scenarios.
For regular home use, this would be fine.

  • Any recommendation for Modem Router for nbn HFC on TPG/iiNet

    • +2

HFC comes with cable modem, you just need a router.

  • I've got 250/100 as of recently. I don't think I need anything majorly fancy from a router? I've got a couple of things like a home assistant box, plex box and nas, but just a single ISP given router atm. Can I remove the ISP router, get 2 of these and have them act as a mesh network? I'm not very tech savvy so not sure I entirely understand how it all works?

    • Yes or better still if you have lan cables the second one can be an access point.

      • Sorry, very basic question but what's the difference? We only have one lan port where the nbn box is but that's it?

        • In your case you would just use a mesh system. Access points usually have better speed and depending on the AP service more devices.

          • @Spendmore: Fair enough - thanks for the advice. Now to figure out if this is the best option or if I get something a bit nicer looking!

@Opaquer: It depends on what you want to spend, the TPlink deco pack below would be more than sufficient for most homes.

I have an AX10 and it keeps dropping off 2.4GHZ . I am not sure if this is a common problem or just my router. Annoying and I am considering replacing it with a different brand. Thought of calling this out so others are aware and also hoping I might get any fix if there is one.

  • is it good to buy 3 of them as mesh ?

  • Can this be linked to my exsiting eero

    • No the TP-Link Archer AX10 and eero won't create a mesh Wi-Fi network. Purchase more eero's.

I have one of these. It's been super solid and has a handy little app to manage the router. One issue is this router seems to have a limited 5Ghz frequency range (e.g. 1 band) as it's built for multiple regions and some of the 5Ghz bands allowed in Australia aren't permitted in other regions. It hasn't caused me any issues, but if you live in a super high density apartment block it might be worth looking for a router that allows multiple 5GHz bands to avoid inference from neighbours.
