damn you i was just pressing submit, beaten by 15 seconds! - gotta be quick around here!

  • Damn you beat me to it :)

  • Damn, you beat ME to it as well!

  • :D

  • +5

looks like the servers been ozbargained?
    "Guru Meditation:"

  • +4

Was going to post this. But can't get into website

  • Beaten as well ! Email states "cannot be used in conjunction with any other on-site promotion" - not sure if that affects the deal as most prices on the site have a line through them and a reduced price showing. Off to the shopping cart to find out …

  • Would be a great deal with the site wasn't giving a 503 error. Dead Dead Dead.

Can everyone leave so I can buy myself a new mobile headset please…

  • +3

    I'M IN!

    What to buy now? :(

    EDIT: Died again…

  • -6

Damnit, i've just spent about $100 on there in the past few weeks :(

  • Since the site's down, what are some good things worth a look? Do they just sell HDDs, SSDs, SD cards etc? Or do they have other stuff, like games and blurays?

    • +1

SSDs might be worth a look at, from Google cache a couple of days ago, it looks like they sell Crucial M4s, Corsair Force and Kingstons. Do they deliver SSDs to Aus?
64/128/256 Crucials are £79.99/£132.99/£256.99 full price (around AU$92/152/293 after 25% off) without delivery.
      Comparable to Amazon I guess…

      • I took at look at the Crucials about 2 minutes ago (when I could actually connect to the site). The 128GB was selling for £160 full price. Definitely not worth it, even after discount. Amazon's the way to go it seems!

        • +1

          (Removed)

  • +13

Rubbish. They bumped up the prices off pretty much all earphones. What was £17 is now £21. Still a bit of discount, but certainly nowhere near %25.

    • +1

I noticed this too - some items seem to be more than '25% off' normally.

The Lexar 32GB Micro SDHC cards definitely took a price hike before this deal came along.

Not to say there aren't deals to be had - just do your homework and avoid impulse buying!

      • +4

isn't it illegal under trades practices act to bump up the price then claim you are giving a bigger discount? Skating on thin ice there….

        • +1

you would have to look at the uk's trade practices act..

    • +6

Yep, just checked the two items I bought on there and they've both gone up! The 8 pack of eneloops I bought 2 weeks ago have gone up 3 pounds and the Lexar SD reader I bought 2 days ago went up almost 7 pounds, ripoff.

    • +4

I was looking at 2 USB Flash Drives yesterday and they have both increased for this 'sale'.

    • the prices are being bumped up. i was looking at the micro sdxc priced at 69.99 with 5% discount down to 66 bucks. then now its 84 bucks and after discount its 62 and theres no stock. just merely a 10% discount from the original price. :(

  • It's being ozbargained atm.

  • Haha i came to ozb to post this too.

  • +8

The Lexar 32GB Micro SD Card (SDHC) - Class 10 + USB Card Reader that used to be GBP 23.99 for over a month now until earlier this week is now shown as 28.79. A 20% price hike!

A 25% discount would bring it down to 21.59, exactly 10% better than before but far from what they suggest. I call them cheats!

Not everyone knows how much items were earlier this week. Very dishonest business practice!

Also did you notice that unlike Amazon they don't take the VAT off for Australian customers? So they cheat you by another 20%…

    • +5

The same card was 23.99 last night, so this sale is misleading.

They raised prices by 10-20%, to have a 25% off sale.

      I'm revoking my + vote.

      • +3

10-20% is being conservative. Jays One+ was 19.49 a day ago and now it is 29.99 today. With the 25% sale, you're actually paying 3 pounds more than a day ago. Basically, not a 25% sale but a 50% mark up.

    • they are little more refined! They dont change the price as such! They change discount %!
I remember seeing 7x% discount on this card yesterday, now is 65%
I bought the card for £23.99 last month!
      now it comes to £21.59!

  • +2

EDIT: Nevermind. Very misleading. Dodgy company…

    Good spotting. +ve vote revoked.

  • +10

    dishonest company

    • meh original post was edited, so comment made irrelevant ;)

  • +12

This is screwed up. I thought, "Perfect opportunity to buy the Jays One+ for my Android phone!".

Google cache from yesterday (25/03) shows the price as £19.49.
    Today it is £29.99.

So 25% off, I'm paying £22.49 or basically £3 more than I would have paid before this "sale".

I hope the site is down because they're correcting their prices or this deal is just wrong.

EDIT: Wow just, wow! They increased the price even more! It's now £35.99 With 25% off, that's £26.99!

You're paying £7.5 more than just yesterday! That's such a scumbag thing to do.

    • +2
    • +2

      Same here. :(

    • How to you look into google cache?

      • +2

Google the term 'mymemory jays one+' or replace 'jays one+' with whatever you want.

When the results come up, find the link to the MyMemory listing. For my search, it was the first result. Instead of clicking the result, click the 'cache' link next to the URL of the result. Google will bring up the cache for that page. And that will show you the price it was.

      • +1

        edit: so slow :(

  • +1

16GB Patriot Xporter ends up being the same price as MSY ($24)… damn, was hoping to find it cheaper here.

  • +3

they're bumping up prices as we write. very dodgy.

    • +4

      :(
I thought some of the prices had changed.

  • -3

for those who said prices have changed, they make have pulled the sale of 30% on selected items and provided a 25% of all items… cant expect them to give a 30+25% discount… well i guess you could, but if thats all there doing then, its probably not as bad as we think… if they have just bumped up the price of everything then yeah…

though it would seem its better to still shop around then just impulse buy.

    • +2

They've changed the prices on at least one item. Jays One+ which was £19.49 yesterday was £29.99 when the deal was posted. Like you said, they could have removed one discount and added a discount of lesser value. No problem. But the site went down (probably due to excessive traffic or who knows) and now the price for the same item is £35.99.

  • +3

Revoked my vote. Just checked some items I was going to buy before, it's obvious they've increased the price before the sale.

  • stupid site is down

  • +8

    MyMemory dodgy practices.

PS. Neg is for the company and not the OP. Thanks for posting regardless.

Hopefully this post comes up as a search for MyMemory to warn ppl.

    • +5

      Very Dodgy stuff.Dissappointed

    • +2

Should update the title with "price on all items increased by 24% and then 25% off"!

      • Or "practically 7% discount!"

  • +3

i'm going to flame there facebook…

  • +4

Good deal find OP!!!.. Shame mymemory is being so dodgy!

Voting neg only so people who dont research prices get suckered in by a false sale!

  • +4

There's no place on Ozbargain for these kinds of dishonest practices.

  • +3

    Dodge.

  • +4

    shame shame!

  • +4

Prices have gone up for this "sale".
(I know this has been said a few times now, I just need to state why I'm neg'ing per OzB rules.)

  • +3

Crap website. Keeps crashing. Dishonest and crap prices adds up to a neg vote.

  • +2

    What scums

  • +3

    Good thing the website's down..

  • +2

Yep, the product I was after got the price hike. Also ends up being only 10% cheaper than the old price after applying the discount.

  • +2

Don't give your money to a dodgy greedy dishonest company like this overseas. just Wait a few weeks if you can and the good people on Ozbargain will find you a better deal.

  • +3

Like others have said before me: very dodgy. I have ordered a few times from MyMemory in the past, but I won't be ordering from them ever again after this fiasco.

  • +1

    Smh..

  • +1

    They put the prices
    up by %25 :-(

  • +2

Looking for laptop memory? Don't bother. These guys are way overpriced. Won't be visiting this site again soon.

  • Hmmm I am not sure they are actually ripping us off on all items - I have purchased 3 of the the 32gb class 10 lexar microsd cards in the last month. Todays price of 21.59 or whatever is cheaper than the prices I have previously paid = 23.99

23.99 pounds was already cheap for this card so effectively another 10% off that is a bargain.

I do acknowledge that some items are more expensive than say yesterday which is not so good….

There are bargains to be had here nevertheless…

  • +2

Anyone that marks up prices before a "sale" deserves a -ve imo.

  • +1

I can't even access some of their pages. I guess there is too much traffic

  • +1

    Dodgey

  • Do I need to pay for VAT if I buy from that site?

    • -1

You should not have to, but they charge VAT and pocket it themselves.

  • +1

Scumbags. Will never deal with these dodgy foreign traders.

  • +1

Be sure to check Amazon before buying. They seem to be cheaper even with the stupid 'sale'.

    • Some of the stuff are cheaper than amazon without the sale but u apply a 5% discount on it. During this dumb sale its way more exp :(
