  • Shit this is such a good price considering that Cold War only just recently hit this price for the first time (from what I am aware of)

    • The campaign is short and not very good. The multiplayer part is alright.

    • Used a free trial of eBay Plus along with the AFTERPAY10 voucher to score a PS4 copy from the Big W Ebay page for $29. Makes it much easier for me to dish out the extra $10+ for the next gen upgrade .

  • +2

at that price Vanguard is worth it lol

    • +7

Hard to say… Good game is good game, irrelevant of pricing….

      • It’s an average game. What’s so special about it?

      • I have to agree.
With that said, what made CoD4 special was that it was very revolutionary, in graphics, AI, and storytelling for War games. The same can be said about Bad Company.

They then took things a step further, and polished the experience. Hence, why we say the "golden era" was with BO2 and BF3. The studios were making art, and consumers were rewarding them with great profits.

But the formula changed shortly after that. You can see this with BF4 and Ghosts. The studios were chasing profits, and hoping the consumers would accept the faults, compromises, gimmicks, and lackluster/stale things they spewed. In short, it was minor evolutionary, rather than the larger revolutionary.

This phenomenon happens naturally, and in so many fields. Remember the hype back when (2008) people were making the shift from Symbian/Blackberry phones, to the likes of the iPhone 3G and Motorola Cliq. And we've seen solid growth and revolutions, up until 2014 (eg Note 4 Exynos). Or maybe 2016 (eg Axon 7). Since then, it's been minor evolutions like: increasing prices, harder to repair, removing chargers, dongles, microSD, Headphone Jack, charging for earsets, putting holes into screen, using weird 19:9 aspect ratio, using curved displays, making phones heavy, fragile and slippery.

  • What's the campaign like on this?

    • +1

      4 hours long.

    • It's a ridiculous anti Axis drama. Garrison's Gorillas in 2021. (Garrison's Gorillas is way better)

    • +2

pretty much just a long movie lol

      • true. i stopped a quarter of the way through

  • Xbox one version, so doesn't seem like it includes cross gen to series x?

    • +2

No it doesn't, can only play it in backwards compatibility mode on the series x

      • Thanks to clear that for me. Always wondering what's the difference between the "Xbox one Xbox series X" and the "Xbox series X".

        • +1

Just to further confuse things - a fair amount of games offer free "upgrades" to their next gen counterparts. EA and Activision are the main culprits of charging extra for what is basically an additional setting in the graphics section of games that you already see on PC!

  • +1

I really wish the PS5 one would drop to 40!! they actually have the ps4 version at big w for 40!!!

I don't think you get a free upgrade to PS5 version on the Vanguard physical copy? any one know?

    • You can do a PS4 to PS5 upgrade where you can use your PS4 disc to play the digital PS5 version but it costs $10USD for the US, I am unable to find out what we are charged for that upgrade process though.

      • yeah I think I will wait for the ps5 version to drop.

  • -2

$9.95 to upgrade to series x edition

    • You install the disc and you get the option to upgrade for $10?

      • +3

No you can't upgrade the physical xbox one version of the game, according to their support site

    • +1

      Incorrect. Only digital.

  • Good price reduction.

  • +3

You can't upgrade the physical xbox one version to series x

    https://support.activision.com/vanguard/articles/vanguard-ed…

If I buy a physical version of Call of Duty: Vanguard on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, will I be able to upgrade to a version on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S?

The PlayStation 4 Standard Edition will have an option to upgrade to a digital version for PlayStation 5 through the PlayStation Store. Please note: The PlayStation 4 disc must be >inserted into the PlayStation 5 to access the digitally upgraded PlayStation 5 version of the game. This upgrade option is not compatible with a discless PlayStation 5.

The Xbox One Standard Edition cannot be upgraded.

    • damn, looks like i have to cancel my order

    • It's the same with the xbox one version of the tony hawk remasters as well unfortunately. Definitely going to check before buying in the future

      • Yeah, Activision games are buyer beware this gen (if you even consider buying/supporting anything from them anyway)

    • Thanks for this.

    • What's the cost of the upgrade version to PS5? It was $10 for Cold War. I wonder if it is the same.

  • +5

I really enjoyed the campaign of this

    • -4

      You seemed easily pleased.

  • +1

This is so worth it for me. I have the $20 off $50 spend voucher. I’ll get the ps4 version and upgrade it online.

  • +1

If you are an eBay plus member you can get it from Big W eBay store with free shipping plus an additional $1.95 savings using code SHO50FF

  • +1

    found it

  • Come on Amazon price match for PS4

    • +1

If you have ebay plus shipping is free https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/124986982589

    • +1

why don't you just walk into big w and buy the ps4 version for 39 bucks?

seems to have alot in stock.

      • -1

Not everyone is close to a Big W store and there is also covid getting around in many places around the country, so not racing out to the shops every time you spot a deal is a pretty good idea.

        • do you live in the country or something? I live in Brisbane there are way too many big W's there is 3 big w's within 10 to 15km from me in all directions., and I don't know what that is like with the covid stuff since QLD always has zero cases most of the time, with no restrictions, didn't think states were still under restrictions and stuff since scotty from marketing is opening up everything.

  • +1

    Rubbish game

    • +2

      Reviews weren’t great.

  • If this was PS5 I'd probably buy it

    • +1

$39 + $10.95 upgrade on Playstation is a pretty good deal imo.

      • What upgrade?

I don't really want the game tbh, I mainly play Warzone

If it's cheap, I would buy it tho.

        • You get the next gen version for 10.95 if you already own the PS4 version.

  • +1

Wonder if they'll drop the price on PC? Actually enjoyed the free weekend but $99 is hard to stomach

    • yeah it might I remember cold war droped in price after a month of being out on PC.

  • +2

Urgh, why not price drop next gen editions? This is a confusing box too, to say series x, but it isn't the next gen version.

    • +2

      They mislead people on purpose.

  • +2

Campaign is short but fun. Aussie missions are extra great. Multiplayer is typical COD multiplayer but it's fun.

Well worth it at this price.

  • +2

Considering EA and these devs are championing the "pay more for next gen versions" rubbish while every other dev offers a free upgrade, you should be boycotting their games.

  • I wonder how far off until we see the Series X & PS5 versions drop in price. I'd definitely purchase either one for $39!

Also how confusing is the artwork for this game for Xbox in the two versions. It says Series X on this but it's only backwards compatible with the console. I guarantee a lot of people have bought the wrong version!

  • From the Activision support page, the Series X edition offers higher frame rates, hardware-based graphical improvements, shorter load times and other advantages.

Not sure if this helps my K/D or now they call it E/D ratio, just a casual gamer.

Will try it on my XB1 and Series X when I get the game if I can tell the difference.

  • Call of Duty: Vanguard, Includes Xbox One version of game, Plays on Xbox Series X via backward compatibility.

So have to wait for the Xbox Series X one to go on sale.

  • +1

I can't find a comparison of standard v next gen version running on Series X on Youtube.

Besides 120Hz and potentially Ray tracing, is there any visual difference between the versions. I know the resolution scales. Just wondering if standard would scale resolution like the XB1 or Series X.

  • Guys and Girls - This isn't the Next Gen version so be aware.

It will be playing in backwards compatible mode so keep that in mind.
Might be worth seeing a youtube comparison

  • +3

is big W a price error? its back to $89.00

  • Should I trade in BF 2042 for this?

    • +1

You should trade in BF2042 for anything you can get for it while you can still get something for it.

Atrociously bad game. I've put 150+ hours into every Battlefield since Bad Company 2. 2042 lasted a week on my hard drive before getting deleted. I might go back for another look in a couple of months when it's had some patches. But even if they iron out the bugs etc, I don't think the problems they've created with their design choices can or will be patched.

  • Est Delivery Dec3.
    Thanks OP.

  • OP, Prices reverted back to original from $39.

luckily i got my ps4 version locked in before the change. praying for no cancellation.

  • Anyone know where I can get the PC version for $39?

  • Big W have changed their prices back to $89, Amazon is still $39, get in quick before they update too.

    • amazon is back to 79 unfort

    • BigW eBay store still showing $39 for PS4 version

    • Still $39 on Big W eBay

  • Shows over folks :(

  • Modern Warfare is taking the piss now.

Infinity ward is the OG and the only franchise developer that i'd stick with.

  • Anyone played Battlefield? Any good?

    • +1

Needs work, updates coming. As a battlefield lover im still having fun.

    • +1

Assuming you mean the new one, Battlefield 2042? Not good. At all.

Wait a few months until it's like $20 and give it a try then if you're curious. But you're really not missing anything.

  • the ebay link still works, i just bought it from Big W through there.

  • just pulled a trigger on ebay with afterpay code. total cost $32.90, not too bad compare to pay $100 normal price.

  • eBay prices now updated to $89. Goodbye resellers.

  • Hopefully the individuals who ordered 10 copies on eBay get their order cancelled~!!

    • I don't think this was a pricing error - probably a Black Friday sale released one day earlier by mistake. Orders will likely be honoured.

    • Bigw is not being lee

  • +1

Still $39 on Big W's ebay page for the xbox one version: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/124983754220

    • +1

This listing was ended by the seller because there was an error in the listing

      • Yep, it's down now.

  • How about us PC people? is Battlenet our only option to buy?

  • -1

glad i have motion sickness, don't play FPS at all.

    • What are you like with VR?

      • I only tried the mobile phone back the day of Samsung S7. Max 10mins. And I don't want to try again.

        • Haha fair enough.

  • Ebay showing 'This listing was ended by the seller because there was an error in the listing.'

Maybe this was a pricing error, perhaps precious COD versions was meant to be this price but someone with zero knowledge of the game/series added it with the wrong price by mistake.

    • That sounds plausible since Target/Amazon are (or was) selling it for $35.

  • Must have put 100s of hours into cold war. I played this game for about 2 hours and felt pretty blehhh about it.

Campaign missions are generic and lacked any differentiation, Zombies is pretty much a polished demo and MP is samey.

    Halo Infinite is pretty crisp…

    • +2

      Crisp and free.
