  • $140 for polyester. That is a 66% price Hike since January:

    • As the brand name naturally suggests

  • Can anyone comment on the true weight of the Cloud-up 1, 20D?

They claim on Amazon the weight is "About 1.5kg", they also say "Total weight about 1.55kg", and the NatureHike website claims 1.2kg, lol … It's unfortunate they cant be accurate…

I have a Lanshan 2 (4-seasons) which I'm quite happy with but I need a smaller freestanding tent for off-track scrub use… Sellers claim that weighs 930g or 1050g depending on the seller, it's actually 1160g without pegs or groundsheet, which is why I'm interested in finding the true weight of the Cloud-up before diving in..

I've got a couple of cloudup 2' persons and the advertised weights are pretty close. The bigger number is the whole lot, the lowest number is without pegs and ropes, which is kind of daft. I find I don't take the full set of pegs and ropes anyway unless I know I'm camping in a very exposed area. I would expect 1.55 is with packaging, 1.5 is the lot and 1.2 is without pegs, ropes or ground sheet. If not rocky, I don't use the ground sheet. I would expect you be about 1.3-1.4 depending on what bits you use. I have use it poles only and no fly in a hut before. The mesh keeps the spiders and rats of you as you sleep - it would have been much lighter then. Sorry not a direct answer, but the configurations can change.

      • Thanks, it's so annoying accurate component weights aren't listed anywhere…

Someone replied to me on Amazon with "1538grams. That includes everything".. hmmm.

Do you know if these definitely come with a footprint (groundsheet), it's not clear on the Amazon listing, they say "Tent fly & floor", but that could just be the fly and inner.. (Edit: it seems it probably does)… and would you know the weight of your 2-man ground sheet? …

        Cheers.

        • The ones from china definitely do. I believe the amazon au ones do but you could always check.

Another data point for you (though perhaps too many differences to be helpful) - I own the Cloud Up 2P, 10D version
      Actual weight - inner+outer+poles+7pegs+2guylines ~1-1.1kg, ground sheet ~200g
Advertised weight "930g without accessories" (I imagine this is inner+outer+poles); "260g accessories" (14 pegs+5 guylines). Since I only use about half the accessories, the advertised weight comes to 930+260/2 =1.06kg + ground sheet

TLDR - advertised weight (for this tent) seemed pretty accurate, just be careful about with or without accessories.
The main confusing thing is that there are so many versions of the tent (10D, 20D, polyester) that it was easy to confuse the weights between the models.

      • Thanks for that… I found some youtube reviews that quote 1550g to 1590g so it seems the Cloudup-1 will only be about 100g heavier than the lanshan-2, (I use a fairly heavy building vapour barrier groundsheet with that due to all the prickly crap in Tassie)…

At $144 I might just grab one, it's not a lot of money… (If it ends up being significantly heavier than claimed I'll just send it back, lol)

I really like the Lanshan-2 but it's BIG with the dual vestibules so it's a real pain in the arse to setup in the scrub or buttongrass where finding any clear area is a nightmare, let alone finding an area big enough for the Lanshan… The Cloudup-1 is only 100mm narrower than the Lanshan inside but the overall footprint is significantly smaller…

        • Thanks your kindly reply,we really appreciate!

      • The truth is different version has different weight for different people.Compared to 20D nylon,10D is the lighter and more expensive. But the waterproof index are the same. 210T polyester is the cheapest but at the same time, heavier of course. The detailed difference can be found in amazon.com.au.

Total weight about 1.55kg."about" means there's maybe got 50g deviation. But don't worry.1.55kg is the total weight, including tent, pegs, groundsheet and any other accessories. 1.2kg means the weight without accessories. The truth is what we offer you here. Please visit our store, there you can find the details.

All looks good but I haven't set it up yet… Heading off for a few days scrub bashing in the Franklin-Gordon NP tomorrow so it'll get a good testing, lol

    Cloud-up 1, 20D total = 1521 grams, (with tags & plastic bags removed)

    Footprint groundsheet = 196g
    Tent inner, fly + poles + bag = 1181g
    12 Pegs + bag + guy-lines = 144g
