Had my eye on this for some time at this price. Might be worth going in store to view, as my local had an additional $100 off. So $370 in store although online was $470.

However, i didn't end up buying for various reasons. One reason was because the demo was torn right where the outer sat on the knuckles for the frame. Many online had complained of this.

Also the mentioned $100 off apllied to all in-store coleman tents.

PS. Macpac clearing out all tents eventually. They're owned by same company that owns BCF, so I was told all tent sales will go to BCF. MacPac to focus on clothing and camping equipment.

    • what store was that?

I called my local macpac and they didn't have any additional $100 off

      • Mine was Nunawading in Victoria. Might be store specific(?) - it was quite literally an A4 printed paper in the tent section with the discount information.

I had seen the extra discount perhaps a few weeks ago while browsing for tents, and nearly bought except for two things being; first as mentioned above re durability, and the second being that its packed form was huge!

  • “Instant”

    • Hey come on now instant noodles takes 2mins minimum

  • Is there a photo of 10 persons fitting in this tent?

Its definitely a 10 person tent in the same way a suzuki swift has 5 seats.

    • Standing room only…10 people.

Looks pretty small. We got this one from anaconda. $549

Been out few times in it. 7 in family and plenty of room. I'll say comfortable 9 persons. Would fit 10 though. But not much room for other things if so.Quite dark. 15 minutes to fully setup and same to take down.

In this world of you-are-all-morons marketing, 15mins is instant. Rapid might have been a better word.

      • Haha, yeah. Also take away 5 to get kids out of the way so say 10 minutes. Probably get closer to the 5 minute mark if everyone knows what to do. First time been using these "instant". We also got the gazebo. Takes a minute or 2. We were thinking of getting another one of these tent and put them together. Have dining area middle between them and play area for kids if raining (and give us a bit of serenity lol)

  • Not sure about this one, but the "instant" up tent I have from Coleman takes a few minutes to put the regular part of the tent up, and then another 20 minutes to put the fly on, lol.

The quickest tent to put up I've used is a canvas Freedom tent with one pole in the middle and two joined at the back.

    • I found that putting on the fly before popping up the 'tent' part saved me a heap of time and effort. I usually only go camping with my 10 year old and he was no help getting the fly over. Sure there is a bit of fluffing about getting into the poles with the fly in the way but give it a go next time!

  • We had the older version of the bigger 12man instant up tent. They are quick to set up, I could set the whole thing with all awnings up in about 10minutes. The downside is that it got a tear just about every sing time we used it . The biggest (and first) tear we got from setting it up on uneven ground and I think when I pegged it down it put undue stress on the fly which tore instantly, it was a ~50cm tear. We had our warranty claim instantly denied from Coleman stating that the tear was too large and had to have been caused by misuse. All in all we were tent shopping again within 12 months.

If you are buying a tent for a single trip or planning to use it in your back yard it might go alright but I would recommend something more durable than a Coleman tent otherwise.

  • After 2 instant up tents being destroyed in high wind, I have gone with an air tent. No frames to bend or snap.

    • which air tent exactly? Im looking at Dometic Santorini. Looking for some opinions

      • I got the zempire pronto 10. Simple to setup and pack away. Big open space. Survived heavy rains.

  • I never want to see a instant up tent again :) … I helped setup one of the firefighter camps in Victoria late last year and put up way too many of them.

But I can assure that they really are easy to setup.

  • trying to find a deal on Coleman 4/6 Gold Evo.

Looks like they only stock the silver, and their price is still $50 more than what everyone else is selling.

  • This v Dometic Santorini?
