I was just reccomending one of these to my sister in law yesterday.

this is a pretty good price for a WP100 water pik.

  • whats the other item? is the item you've linked on shaver shop the same as the link, or do I have to buy two items?
Ok sorry seems like one is a smaller cordless version of the big one right?

  • Not sure if the portable unit is a good buy. :/

    • For the portable one , u must refill the water couple of times, but it's a space saver. And it's hurts!

      • I'm just saying, how often do you really want to thoroughly floss your teeth whilst on the go? If I get food caught between my teeth whilst eating, I'll just break out the ribbon floss. :/
EDIT: unless you're talking about using it at home, which… hmm… I dunno. The reviews of the portable unit don't seem to be as positive. :/

        • I have a touchy gum, and floss just "slit" my gum very easy. Well they both (waterfloss & floss) hurts, but waterfloss has less blood involve. And this is not a new tech.

Saying you have a touchy gum is interesting - healthy gums should not bleed easily from flossing (if at all). Is there a particular reason why you have gums like someone with severe gingivitis?

Have you tried products like superfloss (which is threaded through the gap), ribbon floss as opposed to string floss, or even interdental brushes (for larger gaps)?

      • Good point, maybe because it waterfloss, I felt that the result has less blood (probably mixed with water). However, before we both got drifted away to my oral hygine issue rather than the post from OP, let's put an end in here shall we? :)

    Will this work on 240V?

  • I've researched it before and was pretty sure that the US version can't operate at 240V.

At the end I bought this portable panasonic one, works great.

The price is about AU$70, shipping to AU is au$10, however the page is in Chinese.

$70 + $10 is not worth it when you can buy it from Australia for $66 delivered…

      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/EW-DJ10-AUST/180790427925

Or just $55 delivered from the USA…

even better US$36 delivered from amazon where it's 44% off! but that other one is the DJ40 looks the same but different model number

        • Many thanks! I just got another of these as $36.00 is a bargain price. I paid more than twice as much for my old 1 speed model. These are plenty powerful enough and very efficient. If you brush your teeth as well as you can, then floss thoroughly one of these with still manage to find and blast out even more shit. Highly recommended!

      • They are different model. DJ40 is rechargeable, DJ10 uses 2xAA.

  • Can you get an attachment to put up your nose or is that a separate device entirely?

  • this is ok with 25% off, but i went with the Panasonic model http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-EW-DJ10-A-Oral-Irrigator/dp/… which is 44% off and being a portable unit it folds down into a neat unit! these piks can really save you $$$ in dental bills! :E

  • I got the US version from amazon just over a year ago and I use it daily. I really like it, and feel cleaner than flossing and less hassles.

The US version needs a step down transformer to operate, so if you don't have one, you'll need to add that to the cost as well.

I just have the counter top and not the portable.

    • Could you advise what wattage? I'm looking at transformers, there appears to be a 23W (?) or a 45W transformer that will take US devices into AU plugs. I'm unsure which to get. :(
EDIT: It seems it's 100W, so if I'm understanding this correctly, even the 45W (which technically says 100W for the 110V) would be blasted. keeps looking

    Hi ozbargainers,

I considered of purchasing this before, but as you read it's not usable safe in australia, but they do sell wp300, which is more portable and support global voltage, I bought from just4teeth website in us,

For me, I had to purchase this as I had dental condition, and wp300 was good choice for me, I rather recommend for you guys to buy locally if you need WP100 model

Type 'pik' into google translate from Dutch to English. Keeps your teeth clean…

  • I have one and itchs me so much that I can't keep my mouth open

    • You are not meant to keep your mouth opened while using it. The water will fly out from your mouth to everywhere!

  • I have used this electric powered ultra jet for seven years and it is really good. Forget about the portable unit as they do not have enough power and also the water runs out very fast. This unit is even better than the cheaper faucet mounted units available from ebay because the waterpik has the jet pulsating action. You can prove it to yourself by using it to clean the black scum on your drain covers. Just do not forget that if you order from amazon, you will need a voltage converter because it will come as 110 volts.

  • What needs replacing with the Waterpik Ultra? How often? How much does that cost?

  • Surely Waterpik must make a 220v model for the large UK market, so you don't need a step down transformer?

let me see … here we go

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Waterpik-Ultra-Dental-Water-J…

INTERNATIONAL BUYERS WELCOME - VOLTAGE IS 220-250V

That's probably not the cheapest deal around but it shows that there is a 220-250v model out there.

    • I got one from ebay uk with a plug adapter for Aust for not much more than $100.

  • I know this beast of a transformer is probably not suitable for your dainty little bathrooms- be a man and floss in the garage or the shed- but it looks a great deal- $29.90 and 100% ebay rating on 25661 sales- wow!

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/200W-STEP-DOWN-TRANSFORMER-STEPDO…

  • I was looking at this also and found this:

    http://www.h2ofloss.com.au/

can anyone comment or has anyone got this unit? I emailed the company and they are telling me its an OEM of the waterpik and uses the same attachments?? I just cant find any reviews or more info on it? but at $99 + free post looks to be a good deal?

    • interesting find, doesn't look too bad at all. If there were some feedback/reviews I would probably go ahead with this one.

  • "Dental water jet is clinically proven to be up to 93-percent more effective than flossing for improved gum health".

    Source please?

  • I ended up getting one from Liverpool, England (go Reds, you no-hopers) for $121 on ebay.

Transformer would have been a pain and I read that it wouldn't go as good anyway with the 50/60hz thingo.

  • I went with the portable panasonic one from amazon, if anyone is interested i'll let you know how it goes.
