Thanks.
Thanks!
Even for free, no.
Went last 2 years, total crap.
If you're going as an ozbargainer expecting any kind of showbags/free pens/etc you'll be storely disappointed.
If you're going as an IT professional expecting interesting displays, if you're in the kind of industry for any of them to appeal to you you're probably not going to even blink at spending $40 anyway.
If you're going as an IT enthusiast expecting interesting displays, prepare to be bored to tears. It's 99% very enterprise focused with very little to show.
If you're going expecting hot stall chicks flashing just a little too much chest… this is definitely not Summernats.Tickets are given away for free to pump up attendance numbers so exhibitors will pay big bucks for the stalls thinking they're getting exposure to x thousands of people. In reality it's one of the worst run expos of any industry I've ever been to and I wouldn't waste my time on it ever again.
The best expo I've ever been to at Darling Harbour was the old Beyond 2000 exhibit which was probably twenty years ago! It had robots, lights, sounds, heaps of fun. If they could re-create that, I'd pay $200 to go. Sadly all the magic seems to have disappeared from these things.
First went back in '06 when they still had the newest prototype tech on display & it was freebies galore back then, you'd bring home more bags of stuff than the easter show! Basically a geeks' paradise with surprises around every corner! Sadly its kept going downhill every year since then & there is hardly anything left not much to see so more enterprise/business oriented. You'd be lucky to get a pen or a stressball…or candy for a talk. Mostly just go to get discounted mag subscriptions nowadays, but if they have free lowepro dslr bags to giveaway like last yr, I'd go just for that.
Now waiting for PMA to ret. to Syd.
Beyond 2000/Tomorrow was so interesting & informative that they should produce more eps for tv.
Was going to go for this until I read your post. Exactly my experience, especially since back in '04-'05 when CeBIT was cool, it was just five minutes walk from uni. Now that you've reminded me what a waste of time it's become, I can't be arsed.
It's annoying having to create an account/pwd for these things when an email address will do…
worked for me, all good thanks.
Be sure to use a disposable email (and postal address) for this. These guys sell their list to every shady spammer in the world. I don't get much Viagra/Nigerian spam, but almost 100% of it arrives at my cebit@ email address.
