I am not sure whether this issue applies to this stock

Of course it applies to this stock. Amazon didn't have a continuous stock of these drives, so absolutely no chance of getting old stock.

  • Hey everyone, would this be good for gaming? I'm a complete scrub and just wanna new drive :(

    • for gaming, I think it will be fine, what is your motherboard? kc2500 is also available but now it is around $146

      • Thanks for replying! I got a H170N-WIFI :) it's got an M.2 slot on the reverse side :)

        • Is it this one ?

PCIe Gen3 x4 M.2 Connector with up to 32Gb/s Data Transfer (PCIe NVMe & SATA SSD support)

It should work as you have a M.2 NVMe slot. I already got one of these (old version got from Amazon UK) on a USB enclosure and have some games on it. Working fine even at USB 3 speeds. But I have ordered another one from this deal (waiting for KC2500 but missed the deal) for installing it internally for games etc. Hopefully I will get it by tomorrow. I got it for $119 with $10 Amazon credits with this deal.

          • @bazingaa: that's the one!

oooo. Shame about the KC2500, are you waiting for it to go below $140 again?

Also, would it be worth getting a gen 4? or stay with a gen 3?

I was wondering if this would be worthwhile?

            • @Shroomlet: yeah, I was waiting for $129 or below for KC2500.

Also, would it be worth getting a gen 4? or stay with a gen 3?

It depends on your motherboard and CPU support. If it can only support Gen 3, no point of getting Gen 4 unless you are planning to upgrade MB+CPU later. Intel 12th gen supports PCIe Gen 5 as well.

I got 2 slots, one is Gen 4, 4x and other one is Gen 3, 2x. I will be using this with Gen 3, 2x one and max speed is anyway limited at 2000 MBps. For me, I am looking for this as a storage drive, so 600 TBW endurance and the speed is fine, anyway limited at 2000 MBps with my motherboard.

  • Any deals for WD Black SN750 1TB?
