  • Would love some real feedback on this. Amazon reviews seem good?

  • Looks like a Chinese company pretending to be a Japanese company. Would be interesting to see how it functions vs the Viomi at this price point.

Or more accurately Uoni is a Japanese vacuum cleaner brand where their vacuums are made in China, like most of the world's appliances and electronics.

I love my Viomi. Just amusing to see this company duping ppl like yourself into believing it's a Japanese tech company.

"Uoni Youli, a brand of smart home cleaning robot, announced that it had completed 50 million round a financing in the first half of 2021. The investors were Meihua venture capital, Qingliu capital and sigang capital. "

        • Companies get financing from venture capitals all the time (e.g. Shopback and Cashrewards) so that doesn't mean it's their founding date.

Here's an article from 2019 talking about Uoni Co., Ltd. with an email of beibei@uoni.jp where they have this trademark. They've even had cordless vacuums in 2019.

Your own Alibaba link even states:

Uoni started its China office in 2015 to manufacture smart home cleaning products,

So perhaps this is Uoni Youli? Their Chinese subsidiary?

          • @Clear: I suspect it's partnership like Xiaomi/Wiha, but they only kept the Uoni branding as it has more recognition.

            • @star-ggg: That wouldn't be malicious. It's a very common business practice. Xiaomi for example don't even make their own phones, let alone most of their products.

        • Right. Those look like Chinese names. Definitely Chinese company registered in Japan.

          • +2

@VestMogen: Checked with Chinese friends. They said it is RRP$500 AUD in China. So this price is reasonable and literally RRP.

    • your thoughts on Viomi? is it any good?

  • Roidmi eve plus is also a viable alternative

  • I’m tempted.

  • this sounds pretty good.. too bad i bought the Viomi 2 weeks back :(

    • You're not going to be disappointed with the Viomi. They have the same suction power and battery capacity.

      • Except quality control isn't fantastic. Mine died after 2 months.

        • Hope that doesn’t happen to mine. Have had the Viomi running for a week or so, so far. Overall seems to be doing well. Replaced a 3yr old Roborock S5 which died.

          • @syngen: i bought a roborock 2 years ago and it died. Some stupid thing about the laser not rotating.

Anyway, just recievved my Viomi today and gave it a test - drew the downstairs floor mat. Brand new robots are so quiet compared to overly abused robots.

            No complaints (so far).

Tempting! I just need more convincing on why I should get this over the others. Can anyone help?

    • +1

What other ones are you considering?

      • +3

No clue really. Recently sparked interest in getting one. I'm assuming that pretty much anything with a lidar scanner are the go-to ones. Of course there will be some differences. Currently doing my research. I've seen roborock, ecovacs, etc. There's just so many models! Is there like a tiered recommendation list for robovacs?

  • Is this any good compared to Ecovacs?
