Seems like a good price given the amount of RAM, storage and the CPU. Was on special for $1,397 last week, and now has 8% Cashrewards too.

Does anyone know whether this laptop support a second hard drive?
Any thoughts on this ..better or worse?

its a 15" so main difference will be the size. vostro is targetted at business and inspiron at consumer, but not a whole lot to differentiate them…
can anyone share thoughts between the i7-11390H and Ryzen 5700U in terms of performance vs price.
11390h will be better in single threaded (i.e., most of the time itll be faster). if you do anything long running multi-threaded (video encoding etc) then 5700u would be better.

Are these genuine discounts or is rrp inflated like most items? Laptop upgrade isn’t urgent, so would I be better off waiting for better discounts ? TIA
theyre regularly discounted. but i cant say id expect it would ever be lower. i purchased the same config for 1469 a few weeks ago.
Happy with the laptop?
we've got a fair few 5402, 5410 Vostros at work and all seems good so far. definitely hard to beat for 'value' and they also have socketed RAM so in future we'll be able to go to 32gb without any issues.
most modern laptops are thermally limited (i.e. speed drops due to cooling not able to keep up) so if you need something to run 100% cpu workloads (either one or multiple cores) for extended times, id probably pay a bit more for something with better cooling. as a result dont be too fooled by the high end cpus in these laptops, they probably hit throttling fairly soon and wind back clock speed.
depends what you're after really… for consumer where you might use it/trash it a bit more than at work, a lighter laptop thats not upgradable might be better. whereas we're likely to get 4 years or so out of them so need the option to upgrade to 32gb in a couple years.

@PeterC86: wat does the power plug look like? USB-C or traditional round plug for this Dell vostro? Thanks
The Vostro is the cheapest laptop you can buy with Windows 10 Pro and an ethernet port at the moment.
Other brands like HP Probook are getting hard to find, and prices have gone up by about 15% this year.
Use with $100 Amex cashback ?
Can anyone comment on the Intel Iris Xe Graphics processor? Is it comparable to other dedicated graphics cards for laptops in this price range?
Similar to mx350. You're unlikely to have a better gpu without more price/weight.
Don't buy it if you're after a gaming laptop though…
why is it not getting any upvotes? It is not good?
Should I get this or the Lenovo Thinkpad E14 Gen 2?
Just ordered with a student discount code
Order total: $1,198.77
Total savings: $950.23
thanks
Where would you get said discount code? Thanks!
You'll need a student email to generate it. Wonder if it could be ordered not under the student's name.
I tried using said discount code for 7% off?
It invalidates the previous discount…
EDIT: Oh wait it works!
Which laptop was this applied to?
Edit: all good figured out! Too much messing with the coupon codes lol
order one with student code stacked with DAC.
good price …
Thanks OP
Some more good buys - eg Vostro 5410 with i5-11320H and Win 10 Pro $1,224.00
