  Seems expensive. I guess you're paying for the connectivity but in that case the Seagate GoFlex appears better 'cause the money you invested in the interface can be used when newer drives come out.

      Regardless, a 1TB portable HDD can be had for much less than $180 without FireWire. The FireWire requirement adds the premium here…

    Macs/time-machines love firewire. USB 2 is painful and USB 3 should be ok at 5 GBPS vs 800 Firewire at 6 GBPS. Cheapest I could find on ebay was 225+ from memory.
