3 Metre Steel Climbing Dome $249 (Save $150) + Delivery ($0 to Metro Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney) @ Bunya Kids

110

This is an awesome piece of play equipment that kids really love and will get them outside and moving whilst having a great time.

Built to survive harsh Australian conditions with hot dipped galvanised steel and powder coating as well as stainless steel nuts / bolts / washers. Comes flat packed and requires assembly (1-2hrs, tools provided) and it's quite large once assembled (3 metre diameter, 1.5 metres high) so make sure you have the space. Suitable for ages 3-10. Maximum total weight capacity of 350KG.

These have been really popular overseas and we decided to start selling them because the alternatives in the Australian market are just too small for older kids. The only other one I am aware of this size is the Plum Phobos but I'm not a fan of its design and it's a lot more expensive.

Any questions let me know. There's no coupon code but you must follow the Ozbargain link to get the special price.

Metro shipping: free metro shipping applies to metro Adelaide / Melbourne & Sydney, other areas like metro Brisbane have very cheap shipping so check with our calculator in cart to confirm

Please note: due to issues with our shipping carrier the dome may come separated into two boxes

  • Not sure if the RRP is justified. Bunnings has a similar one along with a slide for about 300$ Though, with the discount, the pricing seems like normal pricing.

That dome is much smaller and not really suitable for taller/older kids because it's not high enough (1.1m). Our dome is 1.5m high and 3m in diameter which is significantly larger than anything Bunnings sells.

My wife bought (and I built) the Bunnings one with the slide. I need to go back and leave a review. I’ll copy paste this one. It took me about 6 hours to put it together by myself.

      1) Instructions were not amazingly clear. Had to study them frequently and figure things out here and there.
      2) The hexagonal cuts in the central bits/rods were generally fine but some were completely the wrong angle, especially where the pattern changed for the slide.
      3) The blue plastic boards that sit horizontally behind the slide don’t fit properly and I had to cut a decent chunk out of the middle one to get it to fit. My workbench looks like I murdered a Smurf with my bench grinder.
      4) There weren’t enough washers; had to supplement with my own.
      5) Washers/bolts are not great quality.
      6) Provided “tools” woefully inadequate. If someone were to manage to successfully build it with only what was included it would be a miracle. The “spanner” bent about the third time I tried to use it.

Kids love it though and it’s been a couple of months and hasn’t fallen apart yet.

      • Sounds a lot like user errors tbh

    • They seem to be a very solid product. Worth it at $300 for sure, good value at $250

Built it in a hour and a bit. I’m happy with ours, looks like it will outlast our kids.

Watch the little ones on it though our 3yr old fell off and winded herself, I’m sure she won’t fall next time

  • We got one of these before last Xmas and it has been great, the kids (4 and 7) use it enough for it to claim it's place on our small patch of lawn. We are in Adelaide and it arrived first thing in the morning after ordering it the previous afternoon.

I set up mostly solo with a mate coming around in the evening so we finished screwing on the handholds etc over a beer or two.

    • Curious to know how you maintain your lawn under the dome? Must be a pain when the grass grows.

I just drag the dome like 3m+ in one direction, mow where it was, then drag it back. It's a bit annoying but not too bad.

  • I assume this will get very hot in the sun?

    • Ours is in full sun and even on fairly hot days its not too bad (there may be some days / times of day it might be too hot to touch but I haven't really noticed it). Paint is a fairly poor conductor of heat which definitely helps.

    • No need to assume champ. No thanks necessary!

  • Somehow my brain read the store as Bunnings

  • I bought this during lock down. I'm about 70kg and it holds me fine.

  • Any chance to get free shipping to Perth Metro as well?

    • Perth has recently got quite expensive for us unfortunately. We can do free shipping if you pick up from our courier's canning vale depot though - if you'd like to do that contact us via email and we'll sort it out for you.

  • No shipping to Tarneit? It's within Metro Melbourne (just).

Sorry we had a few issues with our courier in the last 30mins. Try again now (it should work).

  • Hi, I’m getting quoted $72 for postcode 2489
Any chance this can be improved?

    • Unfortunately our courier is very expensive to your location. My only suggestion would be we could organise pickup from our courier's depot in Arundel (Gold Coast) - this would only be $13 shipping. But not sure of the border situation or how convenient that would be for you.

  • If I was a dwarf I'd totes buy one of these and use it as the framework for house. Like a mini-yurt. I'd also buy one if I was a homesick Eskimo, for a similar purpose.
