[Pre Order] Google Pixel 6 128GB $792 + 2500 Telstra Plus Points @ Telstra

2160

Ok so bear with me. The Pixel 6 is on special for preorder on the Telstra Rewards store/app for 286,000 points (going to 355,000 on 12th nov). if 355,000 points is equal to $999 (cost of the pixel 6) then each point is worth about 0.3c.

So 2,500 points is $7.04 worth but you can get the pixel for $792 + 2,500 points. Bout $200 off.

This works for most of the Pro range too.

    • Every Telstra store I called (5) went straight to voicemail.

Live chat were completely useless at finding stores with stock too.

How did you get through to someone? Maybe Telstra stores in Melbourne are incompetent at answering phones.

      • Thank you to OP! I just tried this today and picked up my pixel in the Sydney CBD store which still has stock. Paid with points and cash in person so no need online! I suspect this should work across all Telstra stores.

I had the same issue. It's ridiculous. They just don't pick up their phones. I've sat in store when phones just keep ringing. I just had to keep calling until someone picks up.

My experience trying to redeem for this in-store: I had no previous relationship with Telstra apart from my prepaid boost number. I got my 2500 points through the vaccine incentive. The staff had difficulties logging into my account because my account is not active in their Siebel system, which is what they need to use to redeem points in-store. Tried two different stores, same issue. What I ended up having to do was to sign up for a postpaid plan for $45/month (can cancel after the 1st month), then my account became active in Siebel and they were able to redeem the points for me. Not sure if there could've been a workaround, but after 6 hours wasted at 2 stores, on the phone and live chat, I was fed up.

So if you're not able to redeem online and only have a boost number previously, you may end up having to pay $792+$45=$837. Still a good 16% discount imo.

  • Can I confirm the phone is unlocked if someone has got it?

    • All Pixel phones sold by Telstra are unlocked. The only thing Telstra controls is when you get new Android software. Two weeks in and sill no sign of Android 12 unless you put a non-Telstra SIM into your phone

      • How would they control that? I used to run on Boost sim (Telstra network) on my Pixel 5 and as soon as new month kicks in, the monthly security update came through though,

        • Your SIM.

Source: On Telstra with my Pixel 4. Had to install an ALDI SIM in order to get Android 12

          • @kerfuffle: That is odd, why would Telstra SIM impose control on the Android updates.

      • Telstra do testing on new OS updates to ensure no issues with network etc and prevent unwanted support tickets before releasing the ota update

        • They should have tested it PRIOR to the release date. The point of a Pixel is you get updates on Day 1, not Day 14 like Telstra.

FWIW, I installed it on my Pixel 4 on Telstra after nicking an ALDI SIM from a family member and haven't had any issues. Nor are there issues using 12 on my Pixel 6 Pro also on Telstra.

Got it, phone is unlocked. Using Kogan Sim.

  • Still waiting for mine. Call them and gave some excuses about their system error and getting escalated. Guess I'll just have to wait a little longer…

  • The Telstra website was updated overnight to remove the $792 + 2,500 Telstra Plus Points offer, which was previously OOS online.

    • It's still there on the mobile website (OOS online tho), I went in-store today, showed them the offer and got a P6 for $792, they were surprised at the deal.

      • Interesting. I went in store on Thursday and was told offer not available.

        • Try another store maybe and show them the offer on your phone, false advertising otherwise. I don't even have a current service with Telstra and they still honored it. Also the guy went back behind the main counter multiple times to "check t's & c's" before finally letting me pay for it.

  • Pixel 6 pro black 128gb and sorta sunny 128gb are back in stock so be quick if you want to order it.

P6 pro black 512gb also available as a backorder, ETA 4 weeks.

    • Thanks, great to know they are occasionally being restocked. Although I missed out on this again this morning.

      • It's in stock on their normal website, not their Telstra Rewards site

  • Purchased a Pixel 6 128gb in store yesterday, no one in the store had any idea about the Telstra points deal. Had to show them and explain to them. They assumed it was a glitch in the system and went on to explain that 2,500 points was only worth $30. Once they figured it out the store rep said "I could buy multiple and on sell them" because it was such a good deal :-/
(I agree, but don't tell a customer that!)

Anyone still monitoring this thread, I noticed they have just been restocked (15:45 Sydney time) so better hurry!

Raised complaints with TIO and they managed to get it dispatched today, how convenient the timing of the "restock"…

  • Ordered one late last night, how do I find it in my order history or for tracking?

    • Also following this question… Would rather not have to call up for updates on ETAs

    • I couldn't figure out where to track my order either.

I ordered ~3.45pm on 10/11 and received the delivery sms on the morning of 12/11 about 2hrs later it was delivered.

The only comms I received was the purchase order email and then the predelivery sms.. not a great experience wondering where your $800 is.

      • I ordered on the 3rd November, spoke to the chat ok Thursday asking for a ETA which they said "it's on backorder with no ETA". Was pretty annoyed about that as it showed in stock when I ordered… then yesterday a delivery notification appeared on my Aus Post app, turns out to be the phone which is due on Monday. No SMS from Telstra saying it has been shipped though.
