Wonder if we get an edu.au email address signing up to these courses ?

    • +3

You do, when you sign up and complete the process.

      • +1

Thanks - can confirm this works !

        • Hi. Where do you find the edu.au email? I'm signed up but haven't seen anything about being given an edu email.

          • +1

@leximus: You can find it under the "My Details" section in your TAFE account after you log in

            • @profeeder55: ok thanks mate, that must be the problem… I listed my gmail address as I signed up to the course so it mustn't have given me one… Oops

              • @leximus: Emails are generic layout… for tafe its "[email protected]". You need to enrolled for the IT to activate your account.

                • @Sheng: ah ok, so it'll populate there once they've done it. Cool - thanks :)
I'm always rushing too much :D

                  • +1

@leximus: You will also receive an email from them (in your gmail you used to register) about your log in details.

      • This is weird. I've done paid one year Cert 3 course and they only gave me @tafensw.net.au email which was totally useless.

        • Probably a new enterprise deal with microsoft. My niece has a school email provided by google via gmail now.

          • @Sheng: @tafensw.net.au was hosted by Gmail in my case.

        • Weird indeed. I got an @studytafensw.edu.au email when I signed up to this

The food handling course is mostly a video production course, i suspect many of these 'online' courses are the same, requiring the participants to film the practical components of the course.

  • +3

Other young people, aged 16 – 24, who are not at school

    Guess it's targeted?

  • +4

Free RSA and RCG, might as well

    • +5

Very good course to pick up casual shifts into Summer.

    • +1

As Ender commented, The food handling unit is mostly a video production course

      • +1

I actually couldn't care less about the course contents, more about negating the $85 (!) minimum fee for RSA in NSW

Paid thousands of dollars to watch prerecorded videos (uni) so I'm sure a free course I'll be able to deal with.

  • AND meet one of the following criteria:

2021 school leaver, 16 years of age or over
Other young people, aged 16 – 24, who are not at school

Basically anyone over 24 is not eligible.

    Also NSW only.

Is there a Victorian version that applies to more people.

    • and meet 'ONE' of the following criteria:

2021 school leaver, 16 years of age or over
Other young people, aged 16 – 24, who are not at school

      You can be over 24

      • Why did you ignore the "2021 school leaver". Anyone over 24 is not eligible.

        • Have you tried registering?

          • @leximus: Yes. Needs to be manually approved by staff at the teaching location (see if you meet the requirements). Tried to see whether the "accounts with pending" approval can use adobe software for free you need to be enrolled first.

            • @Sheng: I think I speed read it too quick. The courses I enrolled for all worked smoothly and I'm over 24, but these were not summer skills courses

  • So does that mean I can do one of these during the Christmas holidays? I'm in high school

  • So if i am over 24 i can only do the "padlock" courses above and the "sunshine" ones are only for U/24?

    • +1

Yes, padlock (Lockdown Learning) pretty much everyone over 15yrs old who is a citizen or PR can apply.

Sunshine are summer courses for youths and school leavers.

  • do they confirm your address? any way to enrol without physically being in state?

    • There are no exploits for non-NSW people to enrol in TAFE NSW.

  • Can I enroll more than one course ? Otherwise I have to make a difficult decision which course I will take…

    • +1

You can only enrol in up to two Fee-Free~ online courses at a time.

  • For job trainer courses (e.g. RSA) you can just be someone unemployed, apparently. You just need:
    - a letter of separation from your last employer OR
    - complete a declaration form stating that you are unemployed

  • If I'm in uni can i still do these?

  • Great stuff, wish i was younger to be eligible

  • Only creative courses gets access to adobe creative cloud as requires teachers to nominate students.
