never flown Jetstar internationally, is it worth it?

yeah its decent, don't know what everyone complains about. I with them from SYD to Cairns… the domestic flight was okay. Then Cairns to Tokyo (Narita) and it was much better.

I've flown to Osaka from Sydney (stopover at Gold Coast). Wasn't spectacular but wasn't bad neither.

    • I haven't personally flown it but i have been told many times about it.. your pay for you get..
At the end of the day, if you are looking for budget flying, you are looking for cheap flights, buying food, nothing fancy, plenty of time to waste on the plane and not in a hurry to get there..

Personally, i don't mind spending a few hundred dollars to get to my destination hours earlier( if it involves no transfers), better comfort and services…

      • I'd like to say 'make that a few thousand extra not a few hundred', but it would be exagerating - but not hugely.

Unless you can get a super special on one of the expensive airlines you will be paying at least double compared to a good budget deal.

I think of the transit as a free stopover in, say, Kuala Lumpur and get the connecting flight the next day. God I love spening the night in KL!!!!!!

flew to phuket. it was fine. you get ZERO free extras like other airlines but often you dont need them. if you do want the extras, it still works out cheaper than almost any other airline.
plus to phuket the flight is only 9hours or so its not thaaaat long.

note: i should point out though dont sit near the front of any 'section' on these planes. we made this mistake & ended up next to 3 crying shitting babies with bogan parents who didnt go to the toilets to change their nappies. yes, they changed their nappies in the cabin - the small of baby shit permeating the whole cabin for a while there. while this is bad enough for everyone in the plane we were sitting right next to all of this :(
always check that site seatadvisor or whatever it's called to get the better seats

      • 3 dollars for a drink! That eats up nearly all the hundreds I saved on the ticket :(

      • If enough people complain they might kick them off the plane :P

        • … at 40,000 feet :-)

  • Ive flown to Japan a few times with Jetstar, no complaints what so ever. Staff were great, flight was comfortable and on time.

japan routes are brilliant coz they are usually half empty. We got 3 seats to ourselves to sleep there and back. Better than business class.

awesome sharing mate, bookmarked your website.

  • nice thanks

  • Cant seem to get the jetstar site to work on the sale page, but I took a look for Gold Coast QLD to Tokyo and it looks to be $249. FYI.

    • It looks like for some reason they are targetting Osaka rather than Tokyo's Narita Airport on the sale. Both have sale prices but the Osaka location is cheaper. Tokyo - $249 whereas Osaka - $219.
I hope next time around Nov that Tokyo is the cheaper option.

  • my only qualm with Jetstar is the stop over you have to take

rest is expected from budget airline flying

    • do we have to check-out and check-in our luggage again at transit city?

      • Generally not, but sometimes you will have to.

      • yes….on the way there
both times I've been had to re-checkin myself

        on the way back…no

        may be coincidence…may be not…shrugs

  • damn, I want some sales for November
preferably by Thai/SIA ;) When does Singapore Airlines usually put out sales? April?

how come adios does not give results for flights to israel, are you antisemetic?

Look - you get what you pay for. The whole concept of Ozbargain.com is fatally flawed.

Close this misleading website down and start saving up for the once in a lifetime chance to fly overseas :|

WHY BOTHER TO OPEN A THREAD ABOUT BUDGET AIRLINES IF YOU DON'T LIKE THEM - DO YOU WORK FOR QUANTAS, FOR CHRIST'S SAKE?

    Please excuse me for shouting…….

    (I'm feeling better now)

    • Hmm I'm not sure that my sarcasm was grasped by the 2 negs LOL

Quantas? It's a safe airline for the qivering and qaking who find the sensation of flying a little qeer.

  • Our family has flown with them from Sydney to Darwin then to Singapore. You don't need to check-out and check-in your luggage again at transit city. We stopped for one hour in Darwin, just enough time for custom and claim GST back. We were happy with the flight. But we didn’t get any Qantas Frequent Flyer points.

  • Damn it :( I just booked flights last week from Perth > Denpassar with Garuda, who were the cheapest at the time. Now this comes along……

  • Some curious facts:

Operating Statistics (Monthly) - firm leader in domestic cancellations, 3.5% (better for internationals)
    http://www.rex.com.au/OS/os.aspx?y=2011&site=IR
