        • And by today, you actually mean exactly one year ago.

  • Shit! Ozbargain goers sure love Hungry Jacks!

    • +2

The burgers are better at Hungry Jacks

  • Great deal but not valid at my local store :(

    • You sure? You know the deal doesn't start until next week.

  • thanks OP! :D

  • Got myself 10 vouchers. I don't think I need 99 of them. In fact, I would be lucky to use half of my vouchers!

Of course it is reported in SMH:

    http://www.smh.com.au/small-business/trends/flamin-heck-that…

  • +2

Get into the ozbargain spirit and don't spoil it for everyone. I think 10 as a max should be a fair go for everyone.

  • I sang this after getting this deal.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ixBT5TLoog&feature=youtube_g…

    That is all.

  • Whoppers are so much better now that they come in a box and are somewhat freshly made.

    • +9

wrap is so much easier to eat from. the box is awkward to eat from.

      • +6

I always request for a wrapper instead of a box.

        • +1

You can do that? Awesome, thanks. Yes, definitely easier to eat from teh wrap, and now that the box is their standard packing, asking for wrapped will ensure it's freshly made. :)

        • +1

Thanks KeeFy! I much prefer wrapped too! Will definitely ask for it next time …

  • how do you get 99?

    • +6

Go back in time to before the limit was enforced.

  • 10 bought :D Thanks! I'm not sure I will use them all though…

    • +7

I'm not a big fan of any of these coupon type sites but to neg a deal that you do not have to hand over cash for up front, is for a major fast food outlet that has clearly stated T&C's, including which stores will and won't honor the coupons, seems rather odd.

    • +1

T&C's were clearly laid out and participating stores were outlined at http://www.scoopon.com.au/Assets/pdf/HJStores.pdf

Not a fan of Scoopon, but as others have mentioned, I don't see HJ's bailing out of this one.

  • I can only buy 30 at a time. How did you guys get to buy 99 of them?

  • A quarter of a million of these quarter pound burger deals have been processed.

120,000 burgers sold in 3 hours. oh my hannah montana

  • +2

Little Timmy flipping burgers at HJ's is going to be working extra hard serving everybody their bargains over the next few months.

    • +7

Job security. That's what you are providing when you redeem these vouchers.

  • -7

its ok deal but not abargain like when they used to have $2 for burger. fries and coke! why not just add the coke?
just ordered 50 of these should last me for few months :D

    • When did they ever have a $2 whopper meal?

      • +13

        1982

  • OH … I LOVE THIS DEAL….thanks to OP and to scoopon.com.au

  • Got 50 coupons early this afternoon, thanks OP!

  • They have now put the cap at 30

    • No scoopon purchase = fake accounts for everyone!

  • holly crap 281524

    • +1

x $2 == not bad turnover for people who would otherwise not attend HJs!

      • +2

The number is highly overinflated. Do you really think all those people who bought 99 vouchers are going to redeem the entire amount? I didn't think so…

        • yes :)

        • Yes. BUT, no doubt there will be some studenty type people who got ten and between them and their friends will redeem the vouchers 10X over…..

        • Am emailing to friends who may miss this deal.

  • I bought 10 late this afternoon. Just checked again and allowed me to buy another 40. 50 in total.

I'll be lucky to redeem any of these. More of a novelty item. Scoopon is a joke, nothing but poor experiences.

  • Over 300,000

    • +1

over 16 cubic metres of fat.

  • holly crap we goona have 29k over weightpigs around hungry jacks from this deal XD

  • +1

Limit has been raised to 20! Those who only got 10… GO GO GO!!

  • +1

sorry if this has already been posted 10 times, but I am certain you will be able to use the same voucher over and over. Last time HJs had a $2 whopper deal like this they were not even interested in keeping the voucher. It is good for HJs because even at that price, they wouldn't be making a loss. Most people will buy a drink with it (post mix soft drink costs less than the cups it is served in), so they'll instantly make a buck or 3 from that. Ultimately it is very cheap marketing for them. Good for OBers and good for HJs. Bad for our waistlines! Be a true tightarse and take your own drink though!

  • EDIT: duplicate post

  • +4

    I got over 9000

    • someone should write a script that signs up fake accounts and automatically buys the maximum amount signs out makes another account and buys more. and set it on automatic to screw with Scoopon for imposing a 20 limit. We want 99 again (: There is no captcha so it should be easy to do :)

EDIT: and you can even use fake email addresses, no verfication

  • It's past the 325000 mark at at 11:30pm. Twelve and a half hours left to spam Scoopon to the 1 million sale mark. Go Ozbargin!

  • "Tempting me into obesity with a ridiculously good deal…. semi dick move!"

  • Seems like I just got the go-ahead for that kitchen renovation I've been putting off!!! :D

    • +1

Why do you need a kitchen - I would have thought this deal might convince you to rip it out & just eat at HJ's.

      • That's actually quite feasible given the number of vouchers on offer! Between the HJ vouchers, my BBQ & the beer fridge in the shed I might be forgiven for just turning the kitchen space into another rumpus room! :)

        • +1

That's what I was thinking, just leave the fridge & microwave…
And its another place for a TV from OB deals.

        • just leave the fridge & microwave…

True dat! Gotta have somewhere to keep the excess burgers, and somewhere to heat 'em up again! Bruce my lad, you've got your head screwed on right old son! ;)

  • +7

I flip burgers at Hungry Jack's. FML

    • You're going to be very busy over the next couple of months.

Expect longer queues at HJ's people, seeing as you can only redeem one a day - the person who would normally go line up to order for 4 is now going to have those extra 3 people in the queue with them.

      It's voteoften's fault. :)

  • this looks very good.Thanks :)

  • purchased today 14th March and all expire 8th May… for those of you brought 99.. u will need to eat 2 a day?? won't last u a year…

    • +5

Look at the bright side… in a few months Scoopon will be doing a roaring trade in Weight Watchers vouchers.

Go to this page if you want to buy 99.. You might have to login tho..

  • +1

    Lol

i just brought 99 but then i got a message to say that it exceed the limit and it will process for the maximum I got. I got 98!

  • -6

Just a way to grow their database.

    • +1

      and your guts..

    • You can easily unsubscribe after receiving the vouchers, no need to neg mate!

  • Two accounts, ordered 10 yesterday & 99 today. 109 burgers!

    • Wahh is that 99 in one transaction?
Seems like theyve limited it to 1 per transaction now.

      • Yeah 99 in one transaction.

  • I can only see one in the drop down box.

Click on buy and then got the sorry message:

    Sorry!

You have already purchased the maximum number of Scoopons for this deal.

    Come back tomorrow!

I checked my scoopon and it was there, but it said:

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX-1 Your purchase is being processed and will be available for printing on 20 March 2012.

and no I did not mask my scoopon number, this is what it gave me as I think it has not been processed by their end yet.

    • I manage to order 4 (max) from the drop down box. Your order is being process and will be available to print on 20 March as stated.

    • That's what it shows for voucher numbers on my two very early purchases.
May indicate there is no voucher number!!!!

  • Approaching a half million now.

They've apparently extended it by another day. Maybe they didn't sell as many as they hoped…..

It would be great to get the highest positive on this but I don;t think that's going to happen. Would require another 115 -ish votes.

    • 8000 short of 500k & 500 + and rising

      • 4000 sold in last 30 min, so 500k in under 30 min

  • -1

Can someone please upload their voucher once they become available for printing? I'm too lazy to go through this Scoopon thing.

    • +2

LOL It nearly took as long to post that than order the coupons!!
A real lazy person would not have even gone to that effort. :-)

  • 500000 & still going! There's time to reach 1M.

    • When you think about it. If they all sold. HJ just made $1mil

      • +1

Obviously thats possible sales, not profits.
The downside for them is the loss of normal sales, as so many people switch to this deal. Of course they will sell other products to many voucher users. Scoopon is the real winner.
Could really backfire on HJs if this deal fails.

        • they survived their last $2 whopper deal, they will be fine this time around

        • But that deal was not for over 500000 burgers.
          That's over 10000 a day.
Staff did not see many of those other $2 vouchers by their reactions.
As has been pointed out, we are becoming used to a $2 price point. It can be hard to move people back to full price, especially if there are competing offers.

  • it doesn't cost them much to make those burgers anyways. The main point is that they want everyone in Australia to try out their burgers and to let people remember their whoppers actually taste better than other burgers (ie. Maccus). So in the long run, HJ brand will worth a lot more than the value of the printed vouchers.

    • It is not the cost of providing the offer, rather the lost profit as their existing customers use vouchers rather than making full price purchases. And there is resistance to paying full price later.
If there are extra waiting times, non-voucher customers may go elsewhere, and be disgruntled at paying full price. Voucher customers may only remember the wait.

There are better, cheaper ways to get the few who have never eaten HJs products to try them. Most here ordering vouchers would already have eaten a Whopper at least once, or at least seen one.

For those buying 99, the memory may be adverse to future business! I still can't drink certain drinks from my student days, and who hasn't stopped eating something because they had too much or became bored with the taste. For me, I'm guessing a Whopper will soon be added to my yuk list.

Seems a poorly conceived marketing strategy for HJs, but brilliant for Scoopon & us. Time will tell. Maybe future marketing students will examine the case.

  • +2

They will get extra money from people using these coupons and ordering a drink on the side or adding cheese to the burger.

  • Much hoo-hah over nothing?
Good ol Maccas has multiple stuff in the $2 menu nowadays, no coupon required.
For all we know it's just HJ' responds to the market. Now the queues will be divided b/w 2X restaurants.

    • So a tiny Double Cheeseburger & Small Fries is $3.
Ate that burger & still took my $2 voucher to HJ for a Whopper because it was so small. Usually just use a group buying voucher for a much better quality $7 lunch & coffee. Nothing wrong with vouchers.

      • Double Cheeseburger aprox 160gm vs Whopper 290gm (wikipedia)

    • This is true, though remember Mc's deal is lasting for the year, offering a range of toppings + other food.. $1 drink, 30c ice cream, all prominent and looking good.

Now, if Scoopon HJ were to a 'bacon deluxe w/ chips or small drink' next time for say $3, they could 'mix up' the flavours whilst attracting new (hungry) clientele. Specifically, those savvy to coupons (after broad publication in the media) and happy to use them.

Look forward to redeeming my [10 + 30] vouchers on order for this Whopper too: typically get 'two to go' and will probably byo my own chilled 'squash or cocca cola to this quality meal, in proper OzBargainer mode.

    • +5

Good ol Maccas has multiple stuff in the $2 menu nowadays, no coupon required.

The burgers are better at Hungry Jacks…

      • +1

        yeah, agree with that

        • Yep, better & bigger! So long as they keep that mayo off though…I'm with Bruce Willis on this one, mayo does not belong on a burger!!!

A single whopper is enough for me as a meal! Just a pity they won't add beetroot anymore though!

  • +3

I have to wait until 20 March!? Dammit I was planning to pig out on HJ during the F1 weekend :(

  • 569889 , how many they try to sell this coupon, 1 millon? seems almost 15% of sydey population will eat hj in the next couple of weeks

  • +3

Reading this thread is making me hungry, but i can't go out and buy a whopper full price, now way.

I bought 20, will give some to my friends, i wont eat 20 in 2 months.

It's funny, i looked at my list of Scoopons and this is what i saw (directly under HJ's):-

    http://upload.ozbargain.com/2012/03/14/7990_scoopon_pic.png

    LOL

  • They've opened the floodgates again, ordering is back up to 99 max! :)

    • I got them in hand, 99 burgers sittin on the wall 99 bugers!!!!

  • Zomg i am going to look like an Etheeopian with a HJ voucher for sure, I might end up in hospital with Burgeritis.

    • Burgeritis is one of the leading causes of workplace absence & lost productivity!

I reckon the WHO should commission a study into this crippling disorder…after the deal finishes that is!!! :p

  • They spoke about this deal on Today Tonight.

  • bought another 70 today.. got 100 in total
