  • Anything decent with this offer?

  • The last bit - negotiated deals are not eligible, i would suggest you try chatting woth the rep first, sometimes you can get a better deal than the 15% cashback off full priced item. I got my lenovo 5i for ~800 bucks off rrp where as the cshback probably nets me ~500-600 bucks.

  • So Legion 7 AMD 16"

    Upgrade to 3070 GPU

    It's $2931.66 delivered including GST

Does the 15% cashback on the including GST number or the pre-GST number?

I think either way this is cheaper than buying via the Education store and using EDUCOMM.

That of course assumes you actually get your cashback from SHOPBACK….

    • Cashback is on subtotal (ex-GST). I've updated the description

      • OK thanks for clarifying.

So that means for a Legion 7 AMD 16" laptop with a 5800H CPU, 3070 GPU, 16gb RAM, 1TB SSD the price after cashback is $2531.88.

I think that's better than you can do via the education store with the EDUCOMM code

How reliable do people find Shopback is for actually giving the cash back?
In my experience I prefer cashrewards

        • Its more or less on par with Cashrewards. I had two transactions not tracked before, but the cashback was honored after follow up

Lenovo has the WORST warranty repair service ever! You have been warned.

    • +2

Why? I had a dead pixel 2 months after getting the laptop and they replaced it at my place for free in less than 1 week. Then after my warranty had expired for about a month, I accidentally broke a key on my keyboard while cleaning it and they replaced the keyboard for free.

      • I guess it's always a case of YMMV

      • -2

I'm not the only one who has had issue with Lenovo providing the warranty on products.

        https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/lenovo

In my case Lenovo is pushing back not wanting to repair a faulty item with a well known 'fault' that is under 1 year old.

        • I have to say dealing with them at a corporate level has been a huge pain in my a$$.

If we were unable to get a machine back due to lockdowns/remote workers they would consistently ignore all the detail we would upload and ask the poor end users to run diagnostics directly…

Half these guys barely know what a Start menu is… Ugh

    • Decent warranty service but less than average quality - I'm waiting for my 3rd warranty replacement Legion 5 Pro , all 3 had dead pixels..

      • -2

For a machine of that price point, its pretty average.

In my case the machine is a lot cheaper, but regardless of the price. The quality from Lenovo has really gone down hill and I don't think I'll be rushing to buy another one any time soon! Plus regardless of the price, seeking warranty shouldn't be a hassle.

  • Warranty service was pretty good with my X1 Extreme Gen 2 on the two occasions I used my Premier Support warranty- got two motherboard replacements without a fight or much fuss with a free CPU upgrade on top so it more than paid for itself. The technicians are hit and miss though as they were contracted through Unisys.

Be prepared to wait if you do order though, as I ordered a 170W charger in mid September and it still hasn't shipped. Bit of a bait and switch there because it said it will ship in 7-9 days when I ordered it but now it shows as ships in more than 8 weeks.

      Warranty service was pretty good
I used my Premier Support warranty

So what I'm hearing is you had to PAY extra for 'Premier support' but only got 'good' warranty service in the end from Lenovo?

I took could PAY EXTRA, but in my case, why should I pay extra for a service that Lenovo legally has to provide anyhow?

I use to love Lenovo, but lately the products seem worse and worse, and support is heading the same way.

      • The same could be said about Dell.

At least a Legion 7 won't overheat like Dell "gaming" laptops….

        • +1

The same could be said about Dell.

and I would say the same about them too if they pulled the tricks Lenovo has been doing lately.

But for me Dell 'standard' warranty has been fine. They don't try to get out of 'warranty' claims like Lenovo has, I don't have to pay 'extra' for Premier support just to get warranty I'm legally entitled to.

But thanks for the neg vote, for a 'bargain' website its funny you guys are ok in paying premier support just to get support you should be entitled to in the first place. I see the Lenovo support camp has gone through and negged all my posts. hahaha cute….

As I said, I used to like Lenovo, but support has turned crap, as per the product review site above. Lots of unhappy people

          • @JimmyF: I am not sure how many Dell warranty claims you have made, but I can tell you that in my experience Dell try to wriggle out of anything as soon as their warranty period expires.

That includes repairs that weren't adequate done that were done in the warranty period.

I recently had to take them to the ACCC over a G7 7700 laptop which was not fit for purpose (overheated CPU and GPU just booting Windows).
They resisted everything until the ACCC became involved.

Dell have quite a reputation with treading a fine line of the ACL - and a big fine from the ACCC could be on their way if they keep doing it….

I haven't had a Lenovo PC since the days where they were still IBM.

I am very tempted by the Legion 7 based on this review
            https://www-hardwareluxx-de.translate.goog/index.php/artikel…

            and this one

            https://www-hardwareluxx-de.translate.goog/index.php/artikel…

It has a beautiful screen and class leading cooling. It may be a bit more expensive than the Gigabyte A7 X1, and have a lesser CPU, but I don't want to go down the route of a laptop with crap cooling again. The Gigabyte had the worst cooling of the 6 compared in the review and a mediocre screen.

I've done a few over the years and I get that once warranty has expired they try to wriggle out of the claims and you have to fight a bit harder for support, but my Lenovo isn't even out of warranty yet and they are trying to wriggle out of it for a known design fault.

I haven't had a Lenovo PC since the days where they were still IBM.

Well they have gone down hill since those days when you could drop a IBM Thinkpad, pick it up and carry on as if nothing happened! :)

Dell have quite a reputation with treading a fine line of the ACL - and a big fine from the ACCC could be on their way if they keep doing it….

and fair enough too. The ACCC is slow and toothless most of the time, but every now and then it can bite.

  • Need a new laptop. Got a ThinkPad E595 few years back for ~$700 after cashback. Are the E14/15 the newer versions? Price is almost double than the E595 deals from a few years ago!

  • Pretty sure this deal is expired.

Shopback now only listing cashback as 6%

  • Any machines that can be charged and used at the same time without the overheating?

Looking for something with more than fHD touchscreen for a school child.
