Rhino Rack Universal Pioneer Platform $489 Delivered @ A1 Roofracks

50

This is a sale of a discontinued large roof tray/platform (1480mm x 954mm). A great price considering it is cheaper than the small one and the large one.

Being universal it clamps onto any crossbars.

Only 15 in stock at the time of posting.

Update: In stock but price increased to $599.

I'd suggest you check your vehicle manufacturer's maximum static roof weight before you start loading up your roof. You might be surprised at how little it can support safely.

You mean dynamic when the car is moving? Specific to each car but I think most common cars is about 75kg.

      • Right you are. Some manufacturers also mention static but not as common. A great way to stuff up the handling of your 4wd and destroy economy in my experience. But I understand it may be the only option for some

Also be aware that with Rhino Rack there is an "offroad" load rating which is significantly lower than their published "onroad" load rating.

Some people have found this out the hard way.

      • This is an interesting issue that I'm starting to learn about. The good thing with the universal version is that it doesn't rely on any pop rivets which appears to be the cause of failure in that video and what the off road load rating appears to be addressing. The universal one instead it has a mounting clamp that only relies on bolts therefore much more unlikely to shear off.

Front runner are definately one of the best options for serious 4wd but for my car it would cost $1100 for their platform. And I only intend to put light stuff up there not a roof top tent.

        • In that case it should be a good solution. I've had a roof top tent for a few years and tried a tyre and fuel once on a big trip. You definately notice a deterioration in handling with so much weight up high and about a 2L/100km fuel penalty on a diesel landcruiser. Happily the racks only go back on when I feel a trip needs a foxwing.

  • Yeah, don't buy cheap equipment to use on your roof.
Friends have experienced failures with australian made roof mounted bike racks.
Manufacturer refused to accept any responsibility.

    • which models/brands?

  • It's showing $599 here

    • Looks like they just updated the price. It definately was $489 earlier today. Dam.. still a good price but not so much of a deal anymore.
