I have a usb stick in the back of my arlo hub. I think the cloud only last 7 days rolling.
I must admit I haven't checked my usb stick in quite a while. I check alerts through the day and download on my phone as I go. Got a great one today of the garden shed been blown across the yard and knocking down the scaffolding around my house.
Hi sarge
Can you tell me, do you still get the motion alerts etc even without subscription?
I only get motion alerts. It came with a few months free and I would get vehicle animal and person alerts.
I also find it fairly sensitive, it's really windy at the moment with heap of trees and my phone is just constantly throwing alerts. I dont remember getting that many alerts when I had the subscription
@Sarge2401: Yeah you have to pay for smart motion otherwise you get all the alerts. The processing is all done server side so the camera is still being activated and using up the battery. I use activity zones to try and minimise the tree movement detections. I think that is only if you have a subscription as well. The only other way is to reduce the motion sensitivity.
AFAIK only Arlo Pro 2 hub & cameras have the free cloud storage. Any of the newer ones like this I believe you have to pay a subscription fee.
Whats the costs these days? I have Arlo pro 2
https://www.arlo.com/au/landing/arlosecure/default.aspx I use 2 single camera (Ultra) and 2 free (Pro) as it works out cheaper. Please note though that even though the prices are in AUD and you do not pay more than what is listed, it is still an overseas charge. My bank charged my an overseas processing fee even though the charge was in AUD.
@cykezero: Wow that’s expensive lol. $15-21 per month on top the expensive cameras
@richmond12: Yeah it is but someone has to pay for the cloud storage. The first few cameras were free for 7 days and that is good enough for most people. I keep looking at getting something local but it is a bit of work with the cabling and the initial outlay. Plus sunk costs in the Arlos I already have but the Arlos are not as reliable as wired cameras.
The following products come with 7-day free rolling cloud recording: Arlo Wire-Free (VMC3030), Pro (VMC4030), Pro 2 (VMC4030P), Go (VML4030), Q (VMC3040), Q Plus (VMC3040S), and Baby (ABC1000).

My bad . Fixed. Cheaper at titan store :)
Thank you wuman.
So for free local storage you'd have to buy a arlo hub and stick usb storage into it right?
Yes that is correct. Some of the newer hubs uses Micro SD card rather than USB Storage.
Do you have to pay for cloud storage for these or is there a free option?
