A1 is a garbage value proposition, unfortunately. C1 is the way to go for not much more.

    • Agreed 100%. Spend the extra $500 or so and the C class gets you potentially 10 years.

      • There is no way in hell that people will be using the same TV they buy now in 10 years time.

        • Haha yeah, a few do keep their TV for 10 years, but judging from the comments from most OzB members here, they are more likely to change TV every 2-3 years.

          • @edfoo: I am one of the few, for sure, and still have TV’s from 15 years ago.

Every other person I know upgraded from a 4:3 CRT to SD or HD plasma then to HD LCD to 4k LCD and now to OLED all within the space of 15 years. ‘Smart TVs’ are likely to hasten obsolescence even further.

            • @strayan: My advice to people is to buy a TV to use, not a TV to last. Treat them like shoes.

            • @strayan: Same. Previous 32" Philips CRT TV last me nearly 10 years, and current 42" LG LCD TV still going strong for the past 10 years.

        • I must be the exception to the rule, my 58" Panasonic plasma is still going strong after 10 years. I really do need it to die so I can justify getting some OLED goodness though.

@Quarn: Damn that plasma TV must be sucking electricity like a fat kid in a candy shop.

    • Yep, while we agree that the C1 is a superior TV, it's not always the best option for everyone. The C1 is going for $2380 at the moment, which isn't a huge amount more, but you're also not getting any of the bonus's that are on offer with the A1.

      • Well you could think of it as using the $300 bonus to upgrade to a better tv vs a sound bar or installation.

      • hey OP, any chance you can post up your best deals for the C1 in 65" or 77" please! thanks

        • Hey Genes888 :)

Are you in Brisbane? For the C1 in 65" we can do it for $3150 (no finance options), but you'll have to call us and pay today to secure the price. We currently don't have the 77" in stock.

  • Sorry, not really a great deal when you can get a c1 55" for not much more.

  • Can a1 do 4k at 60hz?

    • Yes, the LG A1 does support 4k at 60hz.

There are too many LG OLED models these days, please eliminate three.

PS I am not a crackpot.

    • Their ranging choices allows for more variability in pricing, and allows the consumer to find a TV that ticks their boxes. Everyones boxes to tick are different, so LG, like other brands, try to find the middle grounds to make everyone happy.
