Was just about to post this. Great deal considering the local models are almost 900 dollars. Just brought one since I have been looking at it for a while. You can also flash it with AU firmware.

      nice!!!

      Someone posted here:
It matters a lot. I bought another UK router from Amazon and was surprised how even with better specs it performed poorly than the cheapo router given by my ISP.
Reason is band C is banned in the UK. https://www.cablefree.net/wirelesstechnology/unlicensed-wire…
DO NOT BUY UK ROUTERS - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/10401655/redir

Would flashing it to AU firmware fix this issue/enable all Band C?

    • Thanks. I ordered the newer XD6 few days ago for AUD 450. Hope to flash it with Aus firmware.

      • Hi, may I ask where you bough the XD6 from for $450? Was it on sale? Looking for one too. Thanks.

    • Hi does flashing with AU firmware resolve the missing channel (based on reading comments here) that the is banned in the UK?

  • Will this come with AU power plugs?

  • I have this and it is great. Great coverage across the house and very reliable.

  • Great price, I am very close to pull the trigger.

I have a RT-AX86U , just thinking if I should get another RT-AX86U or this as I believe AiMesh works best when paired with another RT-AX86U

I have the 68U meshed in with this(after firmware upgrade on the 68U) and it works seamlessly and without issue - I presume as my son runs it in his gaming room and hasn't told me of any problems. My NBN was installed in the garage and I had every intention of having it cabled to where my ADSL was previously installed. Instead I just bought this and it covers the 2 story house with no dropout zones. Also I have backup drives plugged into each router and they are easily accessed by any PC or TV in the house.

Not sure I would recommend purchasing the overseas model, but would certainly spend the Aus dollars again.

      • Out of curiosity are your AiMesh nodes connected wired or wirelessly?

I was considering setting up an AiMesh but not sure if it would perform well with wireless backhaul.

I asked Asus rep in WPF and he suggested not to buy US/UK routers as they have band limitations and Asus AUS wont honour the Warranty.

  • Purchased this same model back in March 2020 from Harvey Norman, unfortunately returned the item after 20 days. Purchased a Amplifi HD router instead and it is still running without an issue thus far.

Asus's Mesh system was the source of the problem. The secondary router disconnecting intermittently even though the router was connected using a LAN cable. I did contemplate of using the secondary router as a WIFI extender and hoped for the firmware to get resolved, but during that time I saw many posts on Reddit and other forums that this was a consistent problem for other users since Asus launched this router.

  • I've been using these for about 9 months now, and I've been very happy with them. It's saved me the cost of having to get ethernet run from the front of my house down to the granny flat at the back where my home office is.
