Not a new deal but worth a post. If you're on the lookout for a good coffee grinder importing seems to be the cheapest way to go
Delivery cost is to Melbourne metro in 2-5 business days, not sure about cost to other states or regional towns.

Some important notes:

  • It's an EU model, it comes with an EU plug (ECS provide an AU adapter), specs (220V and 50-60Hz) are suitable in Australia
  • No Australian Warranty, but comes with a 1 year global manufacturer warranty. I'm not sure how easy it would be to get repairs done.
  • Customs Duty is not payable for imported goods under $1000
  • Your bank may charge international transaction fee (ING refund this immediately)
  • Code works for other coffee grinders too

I recently bought the Chrome colour, it cost me $643.12 and took about 5 days to deliver.

  • The bellow hopper is out of stock, I may get it together once it is in stock, give me more time to think about it.

    https://www.espressocoffeeshop.com/en/accessories/295-EUREKA…

There's also a tinted version for 10 Euro more. Expensive for what it is but much cheaper than local and a step up from the square hopper.

    • Not elegant but I currently just use my Giotto rocket air duster (used to use for my mirrorless camera) and blow air into the burr to get any grinds out. Seems to work well

      • I have the same Giottos blower.

Turns out the Eureka blowing hopper is for Atom only, not compatible with Mignon. :(

    • the price of these in Australia is stupidly high at retail. Pretty good value at this price, I'm running one on top of my Atom 75 and it works as intended.

  • I have a question…instead of dosing into a portafilter directly, can you dose into a cup sitting on a scale?

The chute looks quite high and grounds come out almost at a 45 degree angle, I wonder if it's going to make a mess.

I don't single dose, but I do weigh the grounds. Using a Breville grinder I can pause/restart to get to 18g fairly accurately. The dosing cup needs to be on the scale.

You can remove the portafilter fork and dose into a cup, yes. If it’s too high, use a funnel, or just raise the cup/scale.

      • I turn my portafilter fork upside down - the cup fits nicely and securely into it.

I then use the timed dosage once set up - usually pretty accurate +- 0.5g

I think you are misunderstanding what browser wants to do: he wants to weigh the grinds in the dosage cup as he grinds. With your method, you would have to remove the cup to weigh it, and then put it back to dose further - this is precisely what he wants to avoid.

(I’m not saying it’s a better or worse method - just what OP is asking about) :)

          • @caprimulgus: oh i see - then yes you would probably have to raise the cup & scale!

I suppose if you're going to fork out so much money with a timed dosage function why wouldnt you want to make use of it?

You could consider the Silenzo or Manule range (very similar, 50mm burr set without timed dosage) and save yourself a few hundred dollars. You can use that money on beans/upgrade to a more accurate scale!

@rily001: Well, I didn't buy this grinder, but I was looking at it, and the reason for looking at the Specialita was for the larger 55cm burr set. Most definitely it was NOT for the timed dosage (I wouldn't have used that function) - so I definitely wouldn't have seen it as forking out hundreds of dollars for timed dosage. (FWIW, my previous grinder also had timed dosage…I didn't really use that functionality.) :)

FWIW, many people buy this grinder and use it as a single doser (ie. don't use the timed dosage function). They buy it for the burrs and the really low retention. Google Specialita single dosing, and the 3D printed hopper replacement bellows. (Case in point: see comment by shaidas below this!) :)

Also, FWIW, I do believe the Silenzio also has timed dosage… :)

    • Answering my own question. No mess dosing straight into a cup on a scale, no need to raise the height of the scale to bring dosing cup closer to chute.

Once I have the grind setting and timing right over a few drinks, I then grind directly into a portafilter with a dosing ring place on countertop, I don't use the fork to hold it.

My scale is only rated 500g and has a small footprint, so it cannot accommodate a portafilter, maybe time to upgrade the scale.

Thanks OP, bought one. Here is a single dose hopper replacement for anyone keen

  • Thanks OP, bought a white grinder

The adapter that comes with the machine turns the plug 90 degrees, making the plug sticking out a lot.

You can get a straight adapter from Bunnings for $5: https://www.bunnings.com.au/jackson-inbound-travel-adaptor-u…

Still bulky but slight improvement, at least the cable is pointing downward.

  • Thanks OP. Does anyone know how Eureka Australia treat with warranty when we purchase from overseas?

    • Can you call them and pretend you have an issue with grey market grinder?
Please share your experience with us.

      • Sorry, miss it earlier. It comes with 1 year international warranty according to the OP.

    • Warranty information is on their website, you can see in “Oceania Customers” section.
      https://www.espressocoffeeshop.com/en/content/8-warranty

  • Thanks again OP. Bought one.

  • The unit I ordered is white version. It got a tiny spot of paint damaged on arrival. Doesn't affect the performance but it's on the face of the machine.

Espressocoffeeshop offered rebate of $30 euro if I willing to use as it. Shall I accept the offer or shall I get a replacement…it's a dilemma..

    • Will happen sooner or later. I'd take the refund and just use it.

    • What's the process to get a replacement? Sounds weird it'd have paint damage on arrival - it wasn't protected by packaging (polystyrene or otherwise) in the centre of a box?

      • It did has polystyrene and plastic, but not sure why it's got paint damaged.

Would wait for their response and see what is the alternative solution rather than just compensate $30 euro.

  • Thanks OP, Bought one, and bought this 3D printed inclined stand and hopper with bellow kit also
    https://www.etsy.com/au/listing/981014740/eureka-mignon-sing…

    • Did you get SPECIALITA grinder? I am not sure if better to get it or the MANUALE, as we don't need digital timer? I guess it would be quieter with bigger burr size..
Which option did you get? There are 3 options:
      Hopper with Bellow AU$47.03
      Hopper + Drip Tray AU79.90
      Hopper+ incline Stand AU100.27

  • Would this be overkill for a drip filter? I had a Breville smart grinder which just died after 3 years:( I was happy enough with the result at least until it starting deteriorating in the last three months, but I want something more durable.

The Specialita is geared toward espressos, there are others in the Mignon line up more suited for a variety of brewing methods, such as the Perfetto. There's also the Filtro designed for drip filters.

So don't get the Specialita for drip filter, it's not the ideal grinder for it.

      • Thanks for the suggestion. I'll take a look at that. At the moment, I'm also considering the 1zpresso JX manual grinder which seems well suited to filter coffee as well.

        • Have a look at the fellow ode. These are relatively the same price in aus and are rated a very good filter grinder
