    Also MWave
    https://www.mwave.com.au/product/tplink-archer-ax1500-dualba…

I wonder why there is a massive clearance on them all of a sudden

    • Date First Available ‎4 October 2019

      ah amazon, useful here

i would imagine a base model wifi 6 router limited to 80mhz support has increased competition one year down the track

but 3 items for $99, hard to beat if you need that stuff

    • +1

it’s the entry model in the series, there is an ax1800 and ax3000, i own the ax3000…..

  • Is this a good router for the price? Been looking for a WiFi 6 router for a while now and the only cheap ones that I've come across are from Xiaomi/Redmi (which are at a similar price)

This is router only, be careful. Damn, I need modem router.

    • +4

Couldn't you just configure your modem into bridge mode, then do everything via your new TP Link router?

Currently using a crappy TP-Link VR1600V from when I was with TPG - Bridge mode it and EVERYTHING is run from my AX73. Working an absolute treat.

      • +1

Yes. Yes you can. But I currently don't have any modem and what I am supposed to do kinda scares me even though I know it shouldn't be hard.

    • +1

This router have Dynamic IP, Static IP, PPPoE, PPTP, and L2TP.
It should just auto connect with DHCP if you on NBN. Worst case you can just call them up and connect your internet with PPPoE.

$91 + delivery at TGGC, dunno if it includes the promo.

    • +1

Apparently, it does. I didn't see any mention of any specific retailer.

pickup is the only option if you want to be sure

i would not do mwave or any postal order

      • you just need to

Attach a COPY of the original itemised invoice and receipt paid in full.

so receiving the product not necessary?

    • Processing Time (after payment approval): 10 + business days

  • Will this work for FTTC connections? Would it be better than ISP provided routers namely TP-Link VR 1600v

    • Archer AX1500 is compatible with FTTC and it's better than the 1600v.

  • Oh nice Wireless1 are a participating seller it seems
    https://www.wireless1.com.au/tp-link-archer-ax1500-dual-band… $99

  • Anyone know if this has better range than the ASUS RT-AC59U V2?

I have the ASUS and it has pretty average range on the 5GHz, a lil better on the 2.4GHz but still bad

    • 5ghz always has less range than 2.4ghz. Try changing the channel, go wired, or get a mesh/extender.

    • I have the same router as you. Got it for $35 going well so far.

      • wtf how?

I paid $149 for mine on amazon lol

        • Wtf how?

        • sorry guys i should have mentioned barely used 2nd hand.
          when did you get yours?

          • @MagicTsukai: Ok that makes sense lol.

I got mine around 6months ago

  • this will work with nbn right?

    • +7

      Right.

      FTTN, FTTB = VDSL2 modem + Archer AX1500.
FTTP, HFC, Fixed Wireless = nbn NTD + Archer AX1500.
      FTTC = nbn NCD + Archer AX1500.

    • If it didn’t they would be in the wrong business wouldnt they

      • I like to make sure. Thanks.

        • +1

Yep asking randoms on ozbargains is quality assurance lol

  • Thanks op for posting this. What's this like compared to the asus tuf-ax3000? I'm bout to switch to a high speed nbn plan using hfc, will need ethernet connections to ps5 and av receiver, and WiFi to power 2 laptops, 2 smartphones and a LG c1 tv. What's best for my needs? Doesn't have to be our of these 2 routers

  • Is MSY a participating retailer?

  • Can someone point me to a list or participating retailers? I can't see it. Is MSY a participating retailer?

  • There is no list of the 'participating' reseller or retailers on their T&C's. I have bought mine from TGGC a moment ago. I hope they accept my claim if not, the information has been missing on their end (or I have not searched enough).

    • Promotion is open to Australian residents only (end user customers) who purchase for their personal use. Purchases for and in the name of trusts, companies, businesses, commercial or residential developers/developments and purchases by builders, subcontractors, installers, and resellers are not eligible.

When I order via TGGC the invoice is made out to GDay Rewards Discovery Parks so I don't think it would qualify.

  • Is this router better than the standard Netcomm NF18ACV Aussie Broadband provides?

We're on HFC. Our home's 2.4GHz band has 17 devices and 5.0GHz band has 14 devices, but it just dies every couple of days and I have to reset the modem/router to get the wireless working again. Aussie BB helpdesk tells me i've got too many devices and the router can't cope. I don't know if that's true or not.

    • +1

      Yes, it would.
But just get a more expensive one tbh, it will worth the investment since you will keep it a long time.
This one's [email protected] speed is not that impressive, 300Mbps only.

This will easily handle 14 devices. Actually can do up to 248 devices at the same time. Lol

Or if you want to go really cheap buy a telstra smart modem gen 2 from fb marketplace or gumtree for like $20. They will handle the 14 devices easily. I'm running 2 of them them with 2nd as a WiFi extender and they're great.

      • Hi, is Telstra gen 2 modem locked to Telstra? Can they be used with other providers? I mainly want one as router as it has 4g backup..

        • No, it’s not locked but 4G back up only works if you’re on Telstra.

          • @Sharp: Can confirm this. It's Not locked but only backup 4g is locked to telstra.

  • I brought from kogan with a price error. Got it for $26. Very cool router working smoothly on fttc connection.

  • Worth the upgrade over a trusty Asus AC68u?

  • +1

Same price at Kogan and Computer Alliance.

  • Hey, anyone know how we can connect this to a phone cable/port on HFC? I bought this router thinking there was a phone port but unfortunately it doesn't - so my home phone can't connect. I looked up and don't see any solution? Is this right?

    • leave your phone connected to the HFC modem, attach this router to replace the wireless router you have.

      • Thanks — is the HFC Modem = the nbn black box? The nbn black box doesn't have a phone port either. I looked around and apparently I won't be able to use the AX1500 with my home phone line unless I go back to the Optus Router?

        • +1

          HFC modem = nbn box.

With Optus VoIP telephone you plugin the Archer AX1500 to the Optus modem LAN port and configure the Archer AX1500 for the Wi-Fi access point. Can you rely on mobile only?

          • +1

@Twix: Thanks Twix, yeah looked around heaps more on google too and turns out only ISP provided router has the ability to connect to phone line (rj11). I solved this by what you mentioned too - have redirected calls received on my home phone to my mobile via Optus app

            • +1

@Classo: Since you're redirecting calls to your mobile you can plugin the Archer AX1500 to the nbn box. The Optus router isn't needed.

              • +1

@Twix: Yeah, did exactly that! Thanks for your help

  • Has anyone purchased the router before the 31st but haven't received it yet, tried to get the tp link offer? Can't apply to it since I don't have the serial, and my package is stuck (tracking has not moved since the 1st despite aupost express delivery).
