Agree that much better options are available. Not a deal.

i believed The Golf Club 2019 for a home simulator works better on a GTX 1660Ti with 6GB than a RTX 3060 from all reports. Just going by what all the guys that used both on their home simulators

Well if you plan to only play that one single game, will absolutely never play anything else, don't care about the newer i7 or faster ryzen 7, poor thermals on the Asus, then by all means, go for it.

cheers, yes that's all i plan to do. I'm surprised Acer and Dell are being compared Asus quality. I have 3 Asus latops and they are far superior build quality than those other brands. Cant seem to find the Acer specs you noted in an Asus for $1599?

          • @mossy1: If you’re happy with Asus they have the 2021 model but it’s quite expensive at $2200 at Bing Lee.

I was commenting more on the specifications. If you’re happy to part with more money then the Asus may be worth it to you.

        • Well i hope you are right, i'll go with the Bing Lee Acer. Thanks for the tip!

If in 2019, maybe a bargain.

  • nitro 5 refurbished (mine came like new, no signs of use at all) is $1149 from acer direct

    i5-10300H / 3060 95w / 144hz 15.6

currently out of stock, but pops up every couple of days, I bought mine on Friday night

but seriously, hold for father's Day sales! why buy a laptop now?

    • Because i have no father….

      • "I am your father chimot"

        "nooooooooooooo what? DM details pls"

  • If 17" ill bite

  • well if you consider $1598 a good price for a 1660Ti

    https://online.acer.com.au/acer/store/gaming/gaming-laptops/…

$1449 for a brand new 3060 based. 3060 is around 33% faster on average.

but once again as I mentioned above, refurbished often pops up on Acer w/s for $1149

stepping back and looking at bigger picture, I think there's no point in buying a laptop with a GTX 16XX or RTX 20XX right now, well unless it's an efficient and well cooled RTX 2070

RTX 30XX use better manufacturing process meaning they give more speed for the same kind of power consumption compared to older chips. seriously, get a laptop with 3060

I am pleasantly surprised by Nitro 5, last one I had was nothing but trouble with flimsy build and mushy unusable keyboard. This year model (AN515-55) is built much better, and keyboard is superb.

    • Cheers, i just launched on the Bing Lee one, is an i7 with 16Gb too. Thank you

  • what does these brand named refurbished generally mean. i am tempted to get a refurb high end rtx laptop in next deal, but what really am i risking with these Acer/Asus official refurbished items? have not tried refurb for electronics high value items before, so bit skeptical, but some of these deals are mouth-watering. cheers..

    Better to get 3060.
    Wait for the eBay sale.
