  • So I take it they are coming out with a new studio soon? Not sure if the studio worth it, came out in 2019. Anyone have one?

I have this and it is great, comparing to echo dot.

    • +1

It's pretty good, especially if you pair it with the Echo Sub. Sure, it won't stack up compared to a dedicated amp and freestanding speakers, but it terms of what you get out of the footprint that it has, there's probably not much that can beat it. I've got it in the bedroom and it's effectively invisible, whereas a regular audio system would stand out like dog's bollocks.

The downside is that it is difficult to stream non-integrated music to it (eg: not Amazon Music or one of the other linked services like Spotify or Apple Music). I can stream my local library to it, but it took some fart-arsing around to do it.

      • Appreciate it Astro-Joe, straight forward and helpful opinion!

      • If you're looking to stream your own media to your alexa, try mymedia: https://www.mymediaalexa.com/

I've been using it for a while and it's a great way to access your local library with your voice just like all the other commercial music services.

  • Is it possible to stack this with the 15 dollar discount?

  • Nice, will we be eligible for free trial amazon music ?

    • Yes, I got a free 30 day trial as a new account/ subscriber
The post has link that will take you to Music sign up page

      • Cheers

  • there's the echo dot for $10 when you join or renew amazon prime membership (1 month free trial available for newbies)

updated post with link to that deal, cheers

  • I'm still waiting for Amazon HD Music 🥱

  • Amazon music isn't great.. Spotify has a much better selection coverage

"Amazon music isn't great.. Spotify has a much better selection coverage"

For you maybe, but not everyone would agree. But good luck to you if it caters to you and makes you a happy hippyhippy :)

I prefer Amazon Music (US) & Pandora for Blues, Jazz, (Real) R&B genres. Both stream sources have over the years tailored my playlists reasonably based on my thumbs and rarely get tracks I do not like. Both of these streaming services have a broad choice of music genres. Note: Pandora no longer offered in Australia and both services have been subscribed to for over six years, with Pandora now accessed via a VPN connection to the USA.

I've trialled Spotify a couple of times over the years and have found an absolute paucity in their library for these genres… I have also trialled Tidal, Yahoo Music (Google Music) and Deezer and found them all wanting for broad choice of genres/tracks.

      • i have amazon music and spotiy. amazon music is free if u have prime?

      • Re Pandora, I've had an Echo dot since 2016, and still get to play my favourite lists on any of my now 4 echo's without a VPN. Doesn't work on my phone or computer though.

  • Signed up for Amazon Unlimited trial, when i enter the code i get "The promotional code you entered is not valid." Maybe targeted?

  • Just be aware that the cancellation button of Amazon music is frozen, I have to ask staff from a chat service to cancel my Amazon music subscription

  • One music plan that is not well known is the Amazon Music Unlimited Single Device Plan for $4.99 month.

Same as “Unlimited” but limited to one Amazon Echo device

    https://www.amazon.com.au/music/unlimited/echo

You can’t combine that plan with these 50% discount speakers I imagine.

  • deal doesnt exist according to a store rep

  • Has anyone actually been successful with this deal? I don't want to sign up for Amazon music (even if I would cancel it anyway) if it doesn't work

    • I was able to add Echo and use the code at checkout to get 50% off before posting the deal. But didnt finalise the transaction as did not need the device.
The URL in the post lead to the amazon page that had a massive banner advertising the deal but seems to be removed now

Based on comments above, seems it was targeted or is now expired
I have updated the post to Expire

      Sorry
