That's nice
This has been cheaper before, plus they're giving October as the shipping date. Not sure it's worth waiting that long!
Yep, i didnt notice the ship date, it is a long time.
Had a similar laptop arrive after a week or so with an email explaining the original November delivery date was an error. YMMV though!
That's nice
Anyone know anything about the screen's brightness and colour gamut?
If you go to the product page > support > documentation > setup/spec guide it should be in there. Probably 100 % sRGB and 250/300 nits at a guess.
1080p 60hz IPS screen 250 nits 45% sRGB NTSC
Wow, negged for this.
I kind of get it, it's annoying that people ask for basic product details. However, in this case:
- This spec is buried on Dell's site.
- It seems to be of interest
- Generally someone has checked it and posts it for many laptop deals.
I didn’t neg, but I wonder if you had said “I couldn’t figure out where it was specified” it might have avoided the negative.
Honestly, I read your comment and thought “if you’re interested, did you look for it first?”…Fair, thanks for the feedback
This is also quite nice.
Only 8GB ram instead of 16 and the same gen i5 instead of i7, but comes with an MX330… in Silver :(Still nice tho IMO for $1084.
That model is out of stock.
Get AMD if you can. 11th gen i7 is exactly the same as 10th gen and still only has 4 cores. There are better productivity laptops out there at around this price range or slightly above, including 16'' ones.
Similarly priced as in $1300ish?… Are you sure about that?
yes because you need 8 cores for a casual use laptop
Totally worth spending an extra $100++
worth considering when you consider that OC forgot to mention that ryzen has much better battery than intel
I bought this for $928 with cashback
how?
I wouldn't recommend this laptop. Yes, the processor is good, but there are some significant downsides to this laptop.
In a 15" form factor on a $1300 laptop, you'd expect dedicated graphics. Paired with this processor, even a GTX 1650 would be suitable and would make the laptop a LOT more capable.
But alright… I'd expect now to be the time when some of you say - "So what if it doesn't have dedicated graphics?" OR "I don't need powerful graphics, all I need is a portable 15" laptop".
^^ Well, I'm sorry to break it to you but this laptop isn't going very far — Without a charger :)
A 15" laptop without dedicated graphics would usually be paired with a bigger battery. This would make a lot of sense for anyone not requiring the dGPU.
Unfortunately, this laptop has a 54WHr battery which is much too low to be used as a portable machine without requiring a charger.
**For Comparison: LG Gram (13") - 72Wh, Asus G14 (14") - 76Wh — This 15" laptop isn't even close to competing with these smaller form-factor laptops
On the bright side, the laptop does have Wi-Fi 6, 16GB (3200MHz) RAM and a good selection of ports.
Imo tho, this doesn't make up for the lack of dGPU/Battery capacity
Just my 2c
Agree, as it's an i7 H processor… power hungry
That's true, however I'd say even if this had a U series processor, 54Wh is still unacceptable.
Although, if this $1300 15" laptop had a U series processor, that would be another issue in itself
its a 35W processor thats 4 cores, what power hungry?
11th gen Laptops and 11th gen desktops are not the same architecture
why do so many people pretend to be experts on this?
About that, the latest 11th gen CPU xe iris integrated graphics card might be a big contributor to this.
Any computer experts have a comment on that ?Im considering to buy this laptop for my girlfriend
after lockdown whenever that is, but the latest 11 gen xe iris just don't have enough experience user to comment on.As someone who owns one, I am very happy with the battery life at 6 hours, and it’s about the same weight as a 13”, I don’t need a bigger battery, with a USB C bank giving me another 12 hours handy.
The some erroneous comments here like the 11th gen are the same as 10th gen (lets not mention DDR4-3200 support, also up to 20 CPU PCIe 4.0 lane support, as well as support for Resizable BAR. And there are enhancements on media support; including 10bit AV1, 12bit HEVC, E2E compression, integrated HDMI 2.0, and HBR3).
They do take a while to ship, I paid just over $1000 on the recent eBay 20% sale, could not find a comparable i7 at that price.
Totally agree. 11th gen is not similar to 10th gen Intel processor. There are significant performance and efficiency gains to be had
Too many reviewers review things based on their personal preference. This is not a gaming laptop but it gets reviewed as such.
My son has this laptop to take to school for almost 2 months and he prefers it over his 15" Asus and 17" G7 gaming laptops. It's smaller and light and does everything he needs fast.
Can I be your son? I would like 3 laptops too. And a tablet + phone by any chance?
My company seems poor now that I think of it.@nfusion: Hi son!
@DarkOz: Well that was quick…
@Zackeroo: What was quick? nfusion asking or I accepting? :D
@DarkOz: You accepting lol
Good breakdown. The battery is a total letdown. I am looking at 15 inch laptop purely for productivity and I absolutely do not need a dedicated graphics card. The only reason why I am looking for a 15 inch laptop is purely for a large battery. Even the 10th gen Intel XPS 15 Comes with a smaller battery in Australia.
I just want one of these new gen 15 inch laptops with a tiny bezel, so they fit so much more screen in a portable form factor and also a humongous battery to last at least 12 hours. I think the LG Gram is one to my liking
As markis10 had mentioned above. A USB C powerbank to suit would solve this problem.
I'm also in a similar boat to you, and am looking at LG gram. Not sure if you have considered Asus Zenbook UX425EA - It's ticking all my boxes, and has 10-12 hour battery life. 1.13kg. Good port selection. etc.
Will check it out. Thanks mate
Have you seen any of the mid-higher range laptops around? I've had no luck finding any of the well reviewed gaming/productivity laptops (Asus ROG strix scar/msi leopard/raider are a few that come to mind but really anything with max p 3070/current gen cpu that wont thermal throttle is the ideal).
I'm almost exclusively finding 10th or 9th gen intel on retail sites/stores or searching staticice. Amazon is all over the place.
Your post had a lot of thought and knowledge that could have easily been overlooked so I may have deviated from this product thread a little more than intended. Sorry about that.
why the hell do you need a dGPU on a non-gaming non-creative laptop?
One of my mates has the 5510 with MX450 GPU and 11390H and he’s experiencing a lot of stuttering in game - not sure if it’s thermal throttling or some other issue
Could be thermal throttling or a few weird graphics drivers. If it's persistent and interrupting gameplay, I'd say it's worth claiming it under warranty incase it's a faulty GPU or smth
Throttling by my experience. Check the task manager when it happens.
Dell's laptops with dedicated graphics are notorious for throttling because of thermals. This extends to the mxABC gpus too
Had a ThinkPad E series a few years ago that did it severely as well.
Thanks for your 2c! It doubled its value now.
You're welcome!!
Sorry but wdym by "doubled its value"? :)
Your comments are now worth 4 cents.
May as well round to 5c and get legal tender for your advice.Lmaoo legal tender would be sweet 😆
This laptop was around $1,100 2 months ago on Dell Ebay or Dell Direct. So it's almost $200 more now?
I previous Dell monitor listing's by deal it. He mentioned prices were going up, so I'm guessing applies to all Dell products.
Inspiron Plus is also on deal.
https://deals.dell.com/en-au/productdetail/a2sr $1,799 for 11400H and 3050
https://deals.dell.com/en-au/productdetail/a2t3 $2,459 for 11800H and 3060
I Almost jumped on that 11800H/3060 but for the time I recall Dell actually displays the TGP (60W…ouch)
I've been looking at the m15 r4/r5/r6 the past few days and when you click on the gpu more information link with the r5/r6 it takes you to the the same r4 link and gives you a table labeled r4 gpu comparison (130/140/165w max for the 3060/70/80) I had to look elsewhere to find that the new models because I couldnt get an answer in chat. I know the 3070 is 125w and the 3080 is now in the new x series pretty sure the 3060 was 110w).
Yeah, it's absolutely not an ideal purchase for primary gaming use case.
6% cashback on shopback for Inspiron models
Very nice
Not really worth it. Its just a normal u series chip with a higher power budget. Not to mention the rather small battery for a 15 inch laptop.
This or Lenovo E15 with Ryzen 7 5700U. I can get E15 with Ryzen 7 5700U from SMB store at this price. can someone suggest me which one is better. Absolutely no gaming. Just for Programming and basic web browsing.
@CrypticM what is SMB store? You could upgrade the Lenovo e15 gen 3 at the lenovo store to come to $1195.50 with ryzen 5700 and 16 gb (2x8gb) of ram. Albeit the battery seems to be 40Whr so you may get less mobility if that is what you are after
Business store. Thanks.
This has a better CPU plus Thunderbolt. Nicer case.
E15 has a better iGPU and a better screen. Wired Ethernet.
paid $1374 for Inspiron 15 2-in-1 Laptop, running ok for general home use with large touch screen. come with 2-in-1's active pen (PN350M)
very similar spec.
