Is the CPU/GPU combo in this better than a Ryzen 5600G APU?
Apple and orange. The 5600G is a desktop cpu with 6 cores and 1030 gtx like performance for much cheaper if DIY. This is a laptop but very overprice. Can get a 5300G and 6600 XT for tthird of this laptop price. Otherwise you can score much better gpu with Ryzen combo.
on this price level you can get an 3060 Ryzen. 3050 should really be around the $1200 to $1000 level
I bought the 3070 version of this for $1999. It's a pile of sheet. I imagine a 3050 Ti version for $200 less is even less value.
Why is it so bad? Quality of material, performance or something else is wrong?
The 3070 mobile version is underpowered (for cooling reasons) in that laptop and barely compares to a 2060S mobile from what I understand.
-An 11th-gen Core i7 that bottlenecks a lot of software and games.
-A 3070 GPU with 60% of the performance of competitor's 3070s
-Forced Windows updates that can't be turned off (to my knowledge) and close everything you have open when it feels like
-Automatic/Forced BIOS. You can walk away from your laptop and come back and it has downloaded and installed a new BIOS because they are tied to Windows updates (this really cheeses me off)
-Crap screen
-Had a competitive online game crash once and a Command Prompt/PowerShell window popped up telling me the GPU vBIOS was being updated. The laptop felt that was the best time to update it because I wasn't using it or nothin'.
-No HDMI 2.1
-No numpad (personal irk of mine but probably shouldn't be counted here)
Probably could think of several more bad points but you get the gist.
Don't settle for a 3050 Ti 4GB. You can buy much better laptops for this price.
Damn bro that's rough. Maybe try selling it and get one of the dell laptops.
Yeah, you have been totally jipped with that, I would go for a refund. Unluckiest of anybody out there.
Sorry to hear mate
this.
Over 1.5k worth of dollars and not 17" yet?
Still too high for a 3050ti let alone a 60w version on a 62% srgb screen and 4c8t.
Much better value from a Dell or lenovo deal and you could get a 3060 at this price point which is significantly better performance even from a lower watt version.
Bing Lee's just had a version with 3070 (80W) for 1799 last weekend and i missed it 🥲
If you have an Education email you can get the Legion 5 Pro 16 with much better specs, same GPU, but higher TGP, for $72 more.
