      I was actually typing this exact question! No reviews on the product page definitely makes me a little hesitant to just give it a go, though there doesnt seem to be an obvious reason why it wouldnt.

    I believe this is not a Thunderbolt 3 adaptor?
    Its just a USB-C (10GB/s) instead of Thunderbolt 3 (40GB/s)

    If you are using it for Apple machine (2016 to 2020 models, except M1 Mac)
    Better to get a real Thunderbolt 3 which can do Dual 4k / 60

        $47 is a very reasonable price
        You can't find any real thunderbolt 3 certified products under $100 in Australia (thunderbolt 3 certified type-c port will have a "3" printed on it)

        Besides, you also can't find a type-c HDMI adapter that use 1 type-c port to export Dual 4k/60
        as USB 3.1 (10Gbps) doesn't have enough bandwidth to support 4k/60 x 2

    If my laptop has a usb C and an hdmi port. Can I use this to connect the usb C to another monitor and use the existing hdmi port to another monitor which makes it 3 screens extended? (Laptop screen + usb c monitor using this adapter + laptop hdmi monitor).

    Do I need to install any software to make it work?

      it depends on what laptop you have.
      type-c on my laptop only does data and charge, no additional display.

      if your laptop's type-c can handle the video, then no driver required. it's just plug and play.

      This is the set up I'm using right now. Laptop with 4k monitor attached via HDMI, and an third monitor attached via my laptop's USB-C port.

      As Enjoyer said, some laptops' USB-C port might not be equipped for video signal. If your laptop's specs say "Thunderbolt 3" then I'd expect it to work.
