15% off all Zigbee Smart Home Light Switches with Glass Faces + Free Shipping @ Smart Guys

60

Hey Guys,

We have recently launched a new range of light switches. These light switches have a glass face and led rings to show current status. They are available in 1,2,3 and 4 gang configurations. There is is also a dimmer switch available and a single socket GPO with a USB socket - perfect for bedsides and charging your phone!

They use the Zigbee protocol and work with most Zigbee hubs - they have been tested to work with the Conbee II and Home Assistant (using Zigbee2MQTT and ZHA). Please get in touch if you would like us to confirm compatibility with your home automation hub.

No neutral required unless the lights are less than 50w and then you will need a bypass module.

This sale is 15% off an already competitive price.

We thank you all for your continued support.

  • so what do I need to get these switches to work?

    • +1

An Electrician (and a Zigbee hub)!

      • Conbee 2?

        • Confirmed to have it working with the Conbee ii and home assistant!

      • Hubitat?

        • +2

          Hi,

Sorry for the delay in responding - we just wanted to physically test with a Hubitat. Confirming that this does work with the Hubitat. You just have to pair it and then change the device type to a generic Zigbee switch.

How do these go with two way switches?

and can you dim using the app if you have a regular smart switch, or only with the dimmer switch?

    • Hi,

With two way switches, it really depends how they are wired so we recommend speaking with your electrician who will be able to provide advice specific to your situation. In theory, as long as there is a permanent live wire and neutral at both of your switches which you can use to power the switches (that are both on the same circuit as your lights), this should be possible.

You can only dim with the Dimmer version.

I'm interested to know about this too, as I have 2-way switches (1 panel with 4-gang, while the other panel has 2-gang); I suspect I just need to buy 4-gang switch and 2-gang switch and the electrician can do the rest?

Also, any reason why only a single switch has the dimmer function? not 2-gang or 4-gang?

Also, I suspect the switches are Australian-certified product? How long is the warranty?

        Thanks

  • can it work with philips hue?

    • Unfortunately the Hue hub is a closed ecosystem so it cannot be paired with the Hue hub.

  • Can these pair with TP Link Deco M9 which apparently supports ZigBee or do I need some other hub?

    • +2

The Zigbee on Deco M9 is not available for use. It is only used by the nodes in the mesh unfortunately.

Thanks for the info. I'll keep using my legs like a sucker to walk to the switches for now

        • +1

I have the sonoff Zigbee hub that covers quite a distance, and since these powered switches acts as a repeater you should be able to have a fair bit of coverage with one hub and a couple of these switches.

  • Any specials for the Shellys?

    • Hey,

We recently reduced our prices for Shelly across the range and introduced some bulk discounts too kicking in at 5 units. All info available on product pages for Shelly :D

  • Will these work with the Aqara/Xiaomi Hub?

    • Similar to the hue hub, Aqara is a closed system so will not pair with these switches unfortunately.

    • I'm still new at this smart home integration, but i'm looking to see if home assistant can connect both zigbee, xiaomi and tp-link. I think so in principle! Don't quote me on it though! There are others who would be more knowledgable in this area

      https://www.home-assistant.io/

      • And in practice, yes you can. TP-Link even easier now that the HA Tuya integration is available, no flashing required to get local access.

      • As mentioned by Astronaut Joe, Home Assistant is great for bringing different protocols and manufactures into one centralised location so that you can control from one app with a seamless experience. It should work to connect your zigbee, xiaomi and tp-link devices. Best of all it is free software, so you can experiment!

  • Does it work with hubitat/homebridge?

    • Hi,

Confirming that it does work with Hubitat - we just tested on a rig. You just have to pair it and then change the device type to a generic Zigbee switch.

    • Also, for Homebridge, you can use the Homebridge-hue plugin. This will expose all devices added to deCONZ to your homebridge instance. (We have confirmed that the switches work with deCONZ)

  • Do these work with deconz under HA? And does it support multitaps? Like would it report double taps to deconz?

    • These do work with deCONZ. However, multi-taps are not supported as a reported event. One way to achieve in home assistant might be through an automation as these switches are quick to update state.

  • Any recommendation for a usb hub for use with zigbee2mqtt to be integrated with home-assistant?

    • +1

Definitely would recommend the Conbee ii. We are currently out of stock but will have more arriving in a week or so, so keep an eye out if you are after one.

Another alternative is the Sonoff Zigbee 3.0 stick if you can get your hands on one!

  • Does it work with Smartthings using a standard device handler?

    • Yes this does work with a standard device handler. You would have to add it as a generic device then change the device type in the Groovy IDE to a Generic Zigbee switch.

  • What happens if you have less than 50w load without a bypass module? What exactly is being bypassed by the module?

    • If you have less than a 50w load, and you have a neutral line, then the switch will behave as any other would. When you don't have a neutral line, then the bypass module adds load to the circuit to ensure that there is no residual glow on your lights despite the switch being in the off position.

      • Hi rep, do you sell a bypass module?

      • oh so it in effect wastes energy? not great :( but thanks for clarifying

        • That is fair to say. But also, all dimmers in theory waste energy - they convert electricity into heat and light which is how dimming is achieved!

  • Does it work with the Mercator Icuu hub/app/ smart life? Also - any idea why a low wattage (~4w) led bulb flashes on/off when 'off' using a smart switch?

    • +1

Mercator hub is a closed ecosystem so it wouldn't pair to their hub.

The flashing is likely due to there not being a neutral line present. This means the bulb technically always has power running to it even though the smart switch is off. When there isn't enough load (normally provided by multiple downlights, or supplemented with a bypass module), flicker can occur.

Solution is likely to either install a bypass unit or add more load to the circuit where possible. Best to get advice from your electrician though as everyone's circumstances differ!

  • Do these switches allow dimming? Via both the touch button and through Google Home?

    • There is a dimmer version of the switch that does allow for dimming via the touch button. For google home, you would need to bring the switches into your google home using a hub of some kind (e.g. Home Assistant, Hubitat).

  • With the dimmer version, how dim can it go? I used to have a manual dimmer switch and it cannot dim very low
    Thanks

    • This is really dependent on the type of downlight that you have installed. Good quality downlights will let you dim much lower without flicker than the cheaper ones.

  • Is there a fan control switch without neutral on it's way too?
