  • I have been with hsbc for the last few months. However today I did two purchases today and the cash back didn’t go through Woolworths and local shop. I chatted with staff online and they say it’s normal. But it isn’t normal as it always says pending cashback when u do the shopping. I did transfer the monthly $2000. So now moving forward I don’t know whether the 2% is going to happen to all my purchases or not.

    • Made 5 purchases today and still no cashback. HSBC said wait till transactions stops pending next week and let them know if cashback comes through. I don’t know if it’s because I transfer the $2000 on the 4th and withdraw it back out on the 6th that’s why I didn’t get the cashback. Usually I leave the money in there

      • the cashback always show as pending first, takes 1-2 business days to finalise iirc

    • today i tried using my hsbc card in google pay and the pending cashback showed up immediately

  • Made the third transfer yesterday and haven't received my $100 bonus …

    • Did you receive your AUD 100 yet?

      • yep haha a long while ago

  • This HSBC bank now really sucks for me
Their Customer Service is absolutely CRAP

I had already deposited $65 more than minimum required $2000, it still says me I have not deposited enough for qualification next month.

I am so fed up with this bank's poor customer service, Have contacted them multiple times and they have done absolutely NOTHING about the issue.

Thinking of chucking out this bank. Definately going to complain AFCA about it. HSBC cannot be asking me to deposit more than required minimum amount to qualify for everyday extras as they advertise it CLEARLY, only $2000 required. (and i deposited $2065). still not qualified

    • That's weird! I've never had any issues re $2000 monthly with them and they've always been pretty good when I've contacted them about any issues. Maybe you got a bad call centre employee? If you deposited the $2000 that's pretty easy to verify.

      • Yeah i feel like it was an issue something like HSBC EveryDay Extra's not recognizing one of the deposits made into my account. Nevertheless I do not want to clear out HSBC by simply depositing money (over the minimum threshold requirement) in HSBC, and withdrawing that amount. Nor should anyone else, in my opinion unless they need to.
Its first time this happened to me, out of the 4 months i had been using it

      • yes lodged with AFCA, got reply from customerrelations they are investigating bulshi**.

Maybe you got a bad call centre employee

Ummm as far as i know the bank transfers (from ing to hsbc) have got nothing to with any call centre employee. Although have gotten few stupid employees saying to me i didn't qualify for November's Everyday Extras because i had not deposited $2000 in November. - those stupid people, are working in a BANK they should know t's & c's which technically say to qualify for November, i need to deposit $2000 in October (i had total deposit of $2068 as per my monthly statement).
HSBC confirms on one hand i had deposited >$2000, yet still says i dont meet Everyday extras for November because I didn't deposit $2000.- That's how stupid this bank from CHINA is.

Anyway HSBC feedback, and complaints is a total crap junk as well, So in my best interest ditch this MADE IN CHINA BANK. - May be will come back after 6 months to get FREE $100.

problem was that hsbc didn't count one of my $240 deposit towards the $2000 deposit requirement (which they should have)

confirmed it by making a $2 trans yersterday - Got no money back

I deposited my 3rd $2000 on the Friday the 29th of October via osko so it was instant. For some reason, in the online transactions list it says it was deposited on the 1st of November (2 days into the future). For this reason I didn't get the $100 cashback because the $2000 wasn't deposited in 3 consecutive months (August, September, November) and now I have another 2 months of depositing the $2000 and waiting for my hard earned $100. My wife's account received the $100 just fine.

    Dodgy.

sounds like the transfer wasn't instant but rather next working day. 29 = friday, 1 = monday

maybe do the transfers at the start of each month :)

      • It was definitely instant, I logged in straight away and saw it. But yes already have it marked in the calendar for the start of December and January.

        • Got my 2nd $100 today, bit of a long wait but free money is free money…

    • similar issue but in my case it says deposited ~$2065 in month of October (even in bank statement) yet still dodgy bank denies Everyday extra's saying i didnt deposit $2000

Need to stop giving it our money. Its going to drain it to companies like EverGrande anyway.

      • That's really weird, both me and my girlfriend/partner have been using them for a couple years for all our small purchases (Google/Apple pay under $99.99) and we both only deposit $2020 each month (I've set up automatic weekly $505 deposits) and I've never had an issue except once when one of the payments didn't go through but the thing is if that happens you can quickly deposit $2k to get it re-activated (even the following month you don't need to wait until the next month it'll activate it right away)
Can I suggest setting a reminder a few days before the end of each month maybe 26th for instance and if you log in to the app and press the everyday active tab it literally tells you how much more you need to deposit to activate the 2% rebate for the next month.
The other thing is if you did deposit $2k+ just contact support they are pretty good at fixing things in my experience and if you have the dates of deposits they'll fix it, I know it's annoying when errors happen but they are usually easy to fix if you contact them and explain yourself clearly.
        Just my opinion.

        • Deposited $240, $300 on 3th October $445,$1000 on 4th (within few minutes past midnight), And another $60, $20 later in middle of month.
All were instantly deposit as usual

they are pretty good at fixing things

          Not in my case

I found it easier to dump that useless Crap Chinese Bank, than waste my 10 hours on contacting them, (ONLINE website, phone number, Email, App message reply, and NOW customerrelations +AFCA)

Although i could have simply deposited another $180 to fix this issue But i aint willing to budge a single cent more than minimum required, yet i put $65 more than minimum, Still this Bank wants to increase minimum deposit amount without changing terms and conditions

@USER DC: I understand mate. That's why good customer service is really important, although I've always had good experiences with them I know what's it's like to feel like you are being treated badly.
I have a long standing debt with Optus that I will never pay and I'll never ever be a customer of theirs again because of the way they acted. 3 years later they acknowledged their mistake and fixed the debt so that it was only what I said right from the first phone call but they'll have to sue me for it now because of the way they assumed all along it was my fault.
Sorry you didn't get a reasonable support worker who could've fixed it on your first call.

        • all our small purchases (Google/Apple pay under $99.99) and we both only

So if I transacted exactly $100 (or more) it is not eligible for cb? Gotta be a cent less??

          • @capslock janitor: Yes it has to be under $100. So be prepared to have ignorant sales staff who accuse you of being a scammer when you ask to pay in multiple transactions lol
I'm serious it's happened to me more than a few times but it's always resolved when a manager arrives, I've even had one who straight out told me there was no such thing as 2% cash back and she knows 'exactly what I'm up to' ok then ;p

            • @Clarky77: Ahh keyword: Under. So every txn $100 and over doesn't count.
Don't pay much mind to them. LOL how many times do you split?
My most recent one was paying half, twice.
But if you're splitting 3 ways or more(?! on big purchase) just say collecting points.

  • After depositing >= $2K via Osko/NPP, if you withdraw almost 99% of the funds 10 minutes later, will it still count towards receiving this bonus?

    • Yes

  • If you hold USD in the Everyday Global Account, how do you get it out in cold hard cash the cheapest way?

    • -3

      ATM in USA

      • +1

So, they should book a flight to the USA first?

Wouldn't the sensible option be to convert to AUD using HSBC's real time exchange rates, and then cash out in AUD?

        • -1

The cheapest way or the easiest way? Everyone should go to the US at least once… to use an ATM (probably not the primary motivation)
