  • Citibank are reducing the rewards points for their other frequent flier programs as of April 1st. You might like to check to make sure this will not be changing as well.

    • How do you know this? Source?

      • It looks to be Qantas only that is being reduced:

        http://www.citibank.com.au/AUGCB/APPS/portal/loadPage.do?pat…

"Note - The Citibank Qantas Rewards Program will close to new enrolments on 1 April 2012. The earn rate will change to 1 Qantas Frequent Flyer point per $2 of eligible spend thereafter."

        • Thanks!

        • I went to a lot of time and trouble to take out a Citibank Platinum Visa card in mid 2011 and here we are, just nine months later and they gut the associated Qantas FF Rewards program, the very reason I wanted the card in the first instance. Be warned…

      • Agreed. They are really dumbing down the program…. points are less useful…

  • after 1st yr its $229 for annual fee

    • I guess I should have made that clearer, but I thought it was implied - anyway, updated. Thanks.

For those unfamiliar with "Skywards Miles", you can use them for travel with Emirates, or use them at the "Emirates High Street" online shop.

So you get a feel for the value of Skywards Miles, a $50 Westfield voucher costs 18000 Skywards Miles:
    http://www.emirateshighstreet.com/Gift+Cards/Australian+Vouc…

Higher value vouchers are discounted, e.g. a $250 Westfield voucher is 67000 Skywards Miles.

So if you spend $12000, you can claim a $50 Westfield voucher (with free delivery). It seems everything else in the Emirates shop has delivery fees from overseas.

If you are intending to get back the $229 annual fee by claiming a $250 Westfield voucher, you have to spend $44667 annually on the card, which is $3722 per month.

    • However a flight to NZ is 25000 miles.

It seems to be much better used for flights rather than gift vouchers.

      • Nevermind… doesn't include taxes
