This doesn't change the fact that you have to pay an original amount just to shop there…

What is the in store price for the Sony LCD tv?

Why doesn't Costco have online prices? Why dont they atleast have of a catalogue? They seem like 20th century to me.

I love the way the avoid putting prices on some times. Just the discounts. Yawn.

I think their goal is to get you to the store. Once you are in, you'll buy other stuff.

They charge an annual membership fee, therefore, they should in fact give members a better service.

That may have worked in the 80s or 90s but now? Nope. I'm not traveling that far just to be completely disappointed. I'll go to the website, check out prices and if all is just lovely I'll buy.

Also, I find the manipulation loathsome.

  • Price of the tv would help. If its a good saving compared to others then a membership fee would not be so bad.

Wow - $350 OFF Hershey’s Nuggets Assortment 1.47 kg - if you save $350 on 1.47kg of nuggets, how much do they charge for them normally?!?

$150 off mayonnaise. That's expensive mayonnaise.

    • That's $3.50 off and $1.50 off…

I copied and pasted from the website. There's no decimal point between the numbers. It definitely says $350 and $150.

I can't understand why so many people think not using a decimal point is OK. It never makes them look clever or interesting, it just proves they don't understand the basics of language or mathematics. I don't want to do business with somebody who thinks $350 is the same as $3.50 depending on the font size they use.

If ignoring decimal points is suddenly acceptable, will we start finding bank contracts written in different point sizes without any decimal points? Only pay $10(00) per month in fees! (that's $1000, we just made the extra two 00s smaller.)

I also see hundreds of companies who proclaim in advertising "We strive to be No 1" - striving to be no one? Why would they want to do that?

  • Those mini chicken dim sims are bloody awesome. Will be grabbing them on the next visit.

Do people really buy 60 toilet rolls at a time to save 10 per cent? What a storage nightmare.

for ozbargainers who have a spacious garage :)

    • Yes, we do!

  • Do we need to print and present these coupons or are the prices automatically reflected at check out ?

  • Could 2 people actually make 60$ worth of savings, over a year, by going to Costco?

It just doesn't seem that cheap, at least for groceries.

And is it just me, or is eating out of a bucket slightly beneath us?

    • In reality you'd need to save $60 + what you'd save by going to shops other than costco + extra before it became worth it.

That's a whole lottsa savings to be needing to do more than merely break-even.
