That Black Forest one looks good too, could you do a special on the 24 cans?

    • +8

You can use NICEPASTRY for 10% off :)

      • The discount code doesn't work :(

    • +4

Honestly, it's brilliant. One of the best pastry stouts I've tried and I'm pretty obsessed with any of the cakey desserty stouts (Golden Stout Time, Timothy Tamothy Slamothy, that kind of thing).

Really good balance of cherry with the choc malt.

    A case for $192… Eh?

    • +1

      …not bad eh? /s

    • +8

$12 per 500ml can is common for speciality craft beer. And we are offering them for $6.25 per can today.

    lol….4x cans for $34.95

..you sure youre in the right place??

    • Use the dropdown to select 16 cans (1 carton)

      • I've removed the 4 can option so this is clearer.

      • -4

        yeah i did… 16x 375ml cans of beer for $89.95. lol…

        • +1

          They are 500ml cans.

            • +26

@franco cozzo: Our site shows a 500ml can.

That's your opinion I suppose. You might not be the target market for this offer.

              • +8

@jamesdumay: A lot of people on ozbargain are super keen to comment on things they have no idea about. You'll get used to it :-P

              • +6

@jamesdumay: It’s craft beer. What does one expect it’s going to cost? The same as VB????

              • +10

                @jamesdumay:

You might not be the target market for this offer.

Hahaha that's polite rep speak for "piss off".

Carton should be clearly expounded on in the title - I'd have immediately thought 24 rather than 16, and by the time I read the description it would have flown over my head.

  • +1

    whats the canning date?

    • +1

I'm going to pull the trigger and just buy it - happy to support a local brewery, I am hoping its still relatively fresh and drinks well, unlike when a lot of places clear stuff because $100 is a lot if there's anything wrong with it.

      • Thanks mate!!

Also, for everyone having a whinge. Yes, this is relatively expensive compared to all beers. It is very good value relative to other beers of a similar style.

I regularly pay $40+ (four pack) for similar stuff from Deeds, Mr Banks or MCBC.

    • +1

Just because you have the means or the inclination to pay for wanky beer, doesn't mean it's a good deal. Supposedly there was a tax break extended to craft brewers & distillers, will we see reduction in prices, or just better margins for hipster beer producers?

      • +3

Margins once you pay for a premises, ingredients, equipment, electricity, water and staff - there’s not a lot of profit left. Where you make money in this game is in volume (or a tasting room**) because your costs scale according to volume. Eg 100kg of hops is a lot more expensive per KG than at 10000kg.

** ours is closed for obvious reasons

        • Cleary you wouldn't be in business if it wasn't profitable, and of course this lockdown malarkey is killing you / other small business relying on bums on seats (you have my sincere empathy), but is this tax break going to have much effect? I wasn't expecting a crash in the price of craft beers but it seems they just keep getting more & more pricey.

          • +2

            @Ham Dragon: Economics lesson

If I sell alcohol that has $10,000 excise value, I can ask for a "tax break" of $6,000. But first, I have to come up with $10,000. I give this to the tax department, then some weeks later, I get $6,000. When I meet my refund maximum, the amount is fully taxed with no rebate. Also, excise is payable every 2-4 weeks depending on what terms you are on with the ATO. Which means money is TIGHT.

This means your business needs to come up with 100% of the money, dance with the tax department, then you can get some of it back. Its a huge cash flow problem and it won't make beer cheaper.

      • +1

Actually that's exactly what it means.

Here is this item/product that I already buy at retail. Here is a discount code to get that product at around half the price you would have otherwise paid. That's a good deal.

There is a level of subjectivity to any deal, and typically with any product/service you will often get diminishing returns the more you spend. That doesn't suddenly invalidate the concept of a deal for anything that costs more than the minimum viable alternative.

I'm not about to buy a Ferrari, but I'm sure the people that do would be pretty happy with 40% off. Take your broke ass to the nearest tap and fill up your cup.

        • -4

Lmao, ok hipster bugman, don't let your jimmies get too rustled… this clearly isn't about the product, just the opportunity to brag about how much $$$ you dropped on the latest triple hazy sour DIPA etc etc.

    Lockdown Tasting Pack looks nice,
if you can add 2 Peaches & Cream IPA cans to that pack and make us an OzBargain deal :)

    • +6

We’d love to but my back of the napkin calculation would be that we wouldn’t break even on that due to free shipping :(

Let me see if we can do a special ozbargain deal next week!!

      • +3

That would be nice, OzBargainer tasting pack :)
Id love to try the Black Forest & Peaches & Cream IPA and the rest in the lockdown pack except Pills lol.

        Keep up the good work

        • +1

          Thanks mate!

  • +1

Nabbed it, and some Black Forest as well. First time, hope it’s smashing!

    • Thanks mate!!

  • -3

Is this beer or a dessert in a can? Description is fitting for an ice cream, peaches, cream, oats…

Anyway I guess this is a form of bargain, even though it’s expensive. Must be either low rate production or lining someone’s pockets. Probably the former. When compared to Carlton stuff which make thousands or 100s of thousands of bottles a day.

    • +7

We are a small family owned brewery. This product is a little different from what you are comparing it to, much lower volumes and higher ingredient costs means it’s priced higher. Take a look at similar craft products for a comparison.

      • +6

Don't waste your time mate, plenty of ignorance around about craft beer.

        • Yeap and that why the trend is going back to premiums .
More bang for your buck and seriously with the Boozebud selections of craft vs premiums much better taste .
I know OP wasn't in that match up for clarity :)

        • +1

What makes it "craft" exactly? Is it brewing under a certain volume? With a non-mechanical process? Using organic ingredients? Or is it a marketing label anyone with a mash tun, canning machine and a half-baked graphic designer mate can apply? At what point does it stop being "craft"? When Pinnacle Drinks obtains exclusivity? I get some beers need more exotic/bespoke & expensive ingredients, and the higher ABV attracts higher excise but I struggle see value in $10+ per unit (usually more in the tap room) for a glass of beer! Genuine questions BTW.

  • +1

Is this the kind of beer that needs to be stored in a cool area or will a storage room or a North qld house suffice?

    • Definitely store it in a cool area. Refrigerated is preferred.

      • +1

Gees, the misses never checks the cupboard in the spare room…. The fridge on other hand, luckily the cans aren't overly noticable 😂

        • hahaha

  • +1

Really nice, well worth it! You have yourself a new customer.

  • +1

Have tried both the peaches and cream and the black forest pastry and they are both fantastic. Just placed another order!

    • Thanks mate!! So glad you enjoyed it
