Hi guys,
I know you don't like HN, but if you have gift card purchased 3 years ago from AMEX, then you will get further 20% off.
Do check ebay/Amazon and see if you have cashback option.
Cheers!

If someone wants to compare performance of the Pentium 6405u vs the AMD Ryzen 5 4500u and 5500u, which is only $100 more, refer to Passmark, where higher is better.
https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/Intel-Pentium-6405U-vs-…
Pentium 6405u:2359
AMD Ryzen 5 4500u(Launched in 2020):11230
AMD Ryzen 5 5500u(Launched in 2021):13590
for $100 or so dollars more. its a no brainer. that pentium cpu is trash compared to the ryzen 5.
Yes avoid the Pentium if you don't want to land up with a paperweight.
Even Harvey's themselves are offering the AMD Ryzen 5 5500U based Lenovo for $798, if you really want to get a laptop from a retail store.

Wow didn't think I would see the word "Pentium" in 2021.
Spend a little over $100 and get something far better.

Much much much better processor.
Higher res screen.
4x Larger storage.
Smoother graphics.
$100 additional is worth it.
TBH i wouldn't pay even $400 for the HN laptop.
Ryzen 5 5500U will run rings around Pentium-6405U
Here is better processor at a lower price.

Garry's an ahole. Celebriting 10 years of not buying from HN.
Also screen res is low. 1366 x 768
Good for school students though
The touch screen is a bonus :)
Good for school students though
if you want to frustrate them with how slow it is.
The touch screen is a bonus
not at the expense of far slower cpu, low res screen and 4 times less storage.
:P
Good for unsuspecting parents who don’t know any better. Avoid if you want anything that will last a few years and not be super slow.
No.
This is not good for anyone, not at this price.
if you have gift card purchased 3 years ago from AMEX, then you will get further 20% off
Without even worrying about the gift cards still being valid nor used in this 3 year period, if you had them this would be the max price I would've paid for this 3 years ago. In 2021 this is just typical Gerry fraud.
Saying to spend $100 more is ridiculous. $100 is not a small amount and many people may have a budget of $600 max. If there is a better deal out there for the same price, let us know - don't just say to pay more…
No one here is recommending to spend $100 more for the giggles. Also not saying $100 is a small amount either. But for that extra $100 you get a CPU that's 4 times faster, the screen resolution is better. And you also get 4 times more storage.
Would you rather spend $600 on this laptop then 2 years later having to spend the same amount because the laptop you bought is just too slow?
Though if your budget can only stretch to $600 perhaps you can check out places like gumtree or Facebook marketplace. The laptop posted here is just not value for money at all.
For example.

https://gadgetversus.com/processor/intel-core-i5-8350u-vs-in…
A 2017 CPU 8350u is beating the CPU 6405u from 2019
There is this one posted by dan0909 which is $559
https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/lenovo-ideapad-slim-3-14-inch…
CPU is nearly 2 times faster. Screen is 1080p also which is better than the one in this post. This is running windows 10 S though. Which for the uninitiated may have to do this to turn this mode off. Which none tech savvy buyers may not want to or know how to do.

You'd be better off buying from a reputable second hand dealer than buying this new.
DOWN WITH CR*PBOOKS
This is a 2c 4t processor. For $600 I'd expect a lot more for my money in 2021.
