I think you might need a sparky to put the wired in…
Looks like this one is the battery powered model

Thanks adding it to the post now
Make sure you get the wired version to be compliant with QLD's new fire code
Only if the house is a new build.
Why is the wireless version non compliant?
Law that was introduced from 2017.
If you have an existing hardwired alarm, it needs to be replaced with a hardwired photoelectric, not a battery.
If it's already battery, then you're good, you can replace with battery only.
But all new dwellings being built need to have them hardwired.

$128 at OW/Bunnings.
Both batt & wired are the same price.
Does the heavy discount mean a new generation is imminent?
it might mean that the units were made a few years ago, and the units only have a 10 year life span due to the CO sensor.
Fair enough. All the major retailers seem to be doing it, so maybe Google haven’t moved a lot of stock.
$125 Kogan First Members, $129 everyone else.
No bargain (unless you're a Kogan First member) cheaper/equal price @ OW, GG, JB
It's 129$ on GG Ebay, 116 with the code "HOME10"

Stock from Good Guys seems to be up to 3 years old. I got 3 that are nearly 2yrs old
Which is a massive issue. Smoke alarms must be replaced 10 years from manufacture.
And are we certain of the age of the Kogan ones. Seems a gamble no matter where you buy them from. GG, JB, office works are all out of stock and awaiting stock so I would assume it would be more likely to be newer.
To me if I get 7-8 years out of technology that is dam good. Sure the 10 would be nice but I guess they are potentially on special for that reason….
Kind of want a 3rd one of these but may go in store so I can see how old it is hopefully find one not from 3 years ago
Hmmm, are these certified at all to be used in QLD with the new RTA smoke alarm laws though? We still have a few years before we are required to change our alarms. The Nest Protects are on my short list as I already have a fair bit of Google Home gear.
On the SAI Global page, its showing their license as cancelled? Showing nothing under currently certified or expiry date. And the PDF certificate is a dead link. https://register.saiglobal.com/client/schedule.aspx?setID=SF…
There was an old thread about it on Whirlpool. They mentioned the interconnect on these alarms is not compliant with the standard. https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2738346
Hard to find a clear cut yes or no answer if these would be suitable for use in QLD.
We bought three of these and had a sparky install them and very happy with them. The voice notification is a lot more helpful than just the normal beeping.
Not the best price. I’ve bought 3 yesterday from TGG EBay at $116 each using the code HOME10.

I would be hesitant about getting them online when you can't check the expiry date. I got 3 from TGG store the other week and they were 4years old so took them back.
How do you check the DOM without opening the box? I can't see it listed anywhere outside.
The serial number gives it away. Just past the halfway point of the serial number, you'll see 4 digits that indicate the week and the year it was manufactured. For example, if the digits are 4318 then that would indicate it was manufactured on the 43rd week of 2018.
Great! Thank you for that.
Yeah serial number as stated above. I went through all the stick at local TGG and some were older than 4 years as well. Another post stated that there's a gen 2 released in 2019. So these old ones likely old gen
Thanks, I better get it from officework then.
Do I need to call a authorized technician to get this fixed? Just to make sure I don't get into trouble if something happens
