  • Looks like a really good price for this large size canvas (not panorama)…. has anyone used this company before? Any comments about quality? : )

  • Picture is a bit misleading - 100x75 is 4:3 aspect, while the picture is clearly a wide format.

That said, huge canvas for the price.

    • Yeah, the photo is just stupid and misleading (in a bad way for them) by Jigocity. Was the first thing I thought.

  • The myphotobox webpage doesn't give any details about products, just asks you to download the software (and register with your email address). Certainly doesn't look too trustworthy…

    • I thought the same…
no mention of any price or products on their site (i cant even find a reference to them doing canvas prints)

and their files are stored on 'mediafire'… that screams professional

though they do appear to have 3 physical locations in melbourne…
I'm tempted to try it as it is cheap for such a decent sized print

      • Ooooh they have physical locations? Okay that makes it a bit more interesting then, at least they have real stores around. :)I might actually check this out instead of dimissing it straight away :)

    • and their twitter link just links to twitter.com. :o

  • From what I've read so far, this just screams "dodgy".

So what are the reputable places to get cheap but decent canvas prints? We just got our canon 550D SLR so I want to make some decent prints of the kids for the walls :)

    • Hold out for a "sale", like the fabness.com.au panoramic $50 deal (if it ever comes back).

Otherwise all these canvas places have stupidly high regular prices.

Have had 4 canvases made up through Fabness. Good quality, fast turnaround and great customer service (a coupon expired so I emailed them and they extended it for a few more days).

Subscribe to the different group buying sites as that's how I got hold of my discount vouchers.

      • For the special sale price, the only problem is they are usually 'panoramic' sizes for the large size canvas which doesn't suit a lot of the normal photos taken….

  • Perfect for m4/3 pictures!! Yesh!

  • Is JigoCity legit at least?

  • -6

Yes, I am tempted to buy a few at this price to try it out…as have been waiting ages this large size canvas at a cheap price… i suppose if it doesn't workout we can always complain to Jigocity

If anyone else planning to buy, please help by using my referral link when purchasing : )

Also, their current software doesnt seem to list 'canvas' print in its available options…

Having just tested their software, I would be vary wary of this company/bargain

When completing an order there are no 'terms and conditions' in the box and when it tries to connect to the server (which it needs to do to make an order) it fails… and thats before multiple people try and lodge their canvas prints..
You cant even see any of the product pricing anywhere within the software..I assume it calculates it on checkout, but that cant be done because the software cant connect to the server..

I've installed the program and can use it fine, although there is no option for canvas prints (as you mentioned).

After selecting "order" it opens up a browser and heads to order.myphotobox.com.au. Then you can create an account and go through the check out process. All seems to be working fine, although I didn't hit "confirm order".

      Side note: A4 Calendar is $55 + $10.95 shipping.

      • UPDATE: I emailed them and got a quick response.

You need to click "Check For Updates" in order to download the 'canvas print' option.

However, at the moment I get a "could not connect to FTP server error".

UPDATE 2: I emailed again about the FTP issue. They told me to wait till after the deal closes before they will look into it.

Hi im new so i thought i would start to contribute to the community after so many great deals.
After a bit of research to see if this deal is legit it seems myphotobox has the exact same contact details and address in abbottsford as xtreem technology who do cd printing amongst other type of printing http://www.xtreemtc.com.au/copycentre/main.php?pid=contact&c…
    http://www.myphotobox.com.au/?page_id=7
They might be affiliated? or the same company? not sure, if concerned with legitimacy maybe give xtreem technology a call to confirm that someone hasnt just copied their details as a scam

    • good detective work :)

I tried calling the 1300 number on the website. You get a recorded message saying you've reached Xtreem Printing" and then a bunch of options. I chose the 'online' option, but the phone then just rang out.

I've also emailed them, but no response yet.

Further more, both xtreemtc.com.au and myphotobox.com.au are hosted on the same server. So I'd guess they are the same company and not someone copying their details.

  • Very interested so have had a look into this further and this is what I found.

In the MediaFire file list there is a PDF titled "Important - Stretched and Framed Canvas Voucher" showing you the process for ordering the canvas and when to use your voucher. It is important to note that it says to only use your voucher once as there are kinks in the system and your voucher will become inactive even if you don't finish the ordering process.

Once you have downloaded the software you need to do an update and this will download the Canvas options as they are not there otherwise.

I buy blank DVDs and cases from Xtreem Technology in Abbotsford all the time as I work just around the corner and have noticed their signs for printing up recently. I don't see any reason why this is not a fantastic deal other than buying through JigoCity which I have never heard of before.

    • You are quite correct about needing to click "check for updates". You'd think the auto-update option would check for updates straight away…

Actually it does say the deal (this canvas size) is exclusive to jigcocity also it is available for redemption from 18th Feb…..

here is the Instructions for using the software-
    http://www.mediafire.com/?7lgjzljkb30p6am

  • Ok…. those that want FABNESS theres a new promo just out now : same size but just a bit more expensive $89+9.95
This Fabness is much easier to use and make as it is direct upload

  • Xtreem have a very big printing side of the business as well as the obvious shopfront with CD's / DVD's.

Their printing equipment is state of the art and they have many large clients, so even though the mediafire/semi bad website might be off putting, I wouldn't consider it a scam or anything. They are legit and very good at what they do.

In case anyone purchased one of these, unless I'm blind there is a 'step' missing in the redemption instructions..
You first need to go to
    http://redeem.myphotobox.com.au
which will generate you the discount code required for your order…

      also, as a follow up..

Received my print today, which was a black and white print (which probably hides some of the flaws)

Ill give it a 5/10, no where near the finish or quality of a fabness print which is my only large canvas comparison..

      Pros:
      - For the price, its a big print.. thats a given
      - Ordering wasn't that hard using the supplied software
      - Was incredibly well packaged for the shipping, much better than fabness's packaging
      - Print, from about 2 metres away looks decent enough

      Cons:
      - Average frame, with diagonal supports on corners visible through canvas (appear to be slightly higher than frame meaning can see the outline of the supports when looking at the print from the side)
      - Bit grainier than the fabness print I have..Both had decent starting images so I'm putting this down to whatever compression the software used when uploading the image
      - And for the big one, there appears to be some kind of varnish/laquer/coating which has been applied to the canvas..im assuming for colour fastness or protection or something. The problem is it isn't applied evenly with plenty of gaps and horizontal strokes and a couple of what look like scratch marks, which means when you have light shining onto the print you can see that there is just a crappy finish to the print… I might try getting some spray clear coat or something in a flat/matt finish and apply it over the top, which might fix it.

So, if you just want a massive print thats acceptable, it wasn't a bad buy for $65.
If the finish of the coating/varnish/whatever had been even and consistent I would have rated the purchase 8/10 but the finish is just poor.

    • Just wanted to say thankyou for your post about this, I couldn't redeem the jigcocity voucher at the start : ) as I thought that was already the discount code

  • I have found the whole myphotobox process amateur. Customer service is poor and it is an extremely hard website to navigate and use…Still waiting to see if i ever get my product(and with the hours spent trying to get it done, it better be good!)
