@mathematicalcoffee: final update: after visiting the branch to show ID, staff didn't know what they were supposed to do with it and didn't have an internal number to call, so they called the public number and waited on hold for 20mins, I was told that my ID had been verified and now my application could be assessed and I will hear back within 1 business day. 3 business days later and no reply I call them up to chase them up and they finally approved my application over the phone. They think that whoever set up my bank account typo'd my birth year. We'll see if the digital card appears on my account within 2 days like they promised, because they said the physical card will probably not reach me until the new year (more than a month after application and too late for boxing day sales which I got it for). What an ordeal.
