for anybody who doesn't do their own checks, worth noting the page says 4k@30hz
My bad, this is 4K@30Hz. USB Hub in my store are all 4K@30Hz, USB Dock have 4K@60Hz.
Helping out as I had a lot of grief with 4K@60hz, first thing get to know what USB-C version your device has and if it has displayport over USB-C, and also what version. Basically if you have thunderbolt you're in luck as there are plenty but expensive adapters.
In my case, older notebook, USB-C had displayport but it's an older version, so the thing that worked best was https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001814030754.html, and for keyboard/mouse and others I use a normal USB 3.0 hub, so always 2 wires connected.
Note that for older notebooks like mine you have 2 options:
- If the adapter like above also has USB, they will be USB2 only.
- If the adapter has USB3 and also do 4K@60hz, you either have a newer USB-C version, thunderbolt, or - the nightmare case - the adapter has a video chip (does not pass-through displayport), which means more drivers and lag (and forget games). These are usually bulky and powered tho. Thanks, appreciate this. Been harder than I thought finding a hub because of this. New laptop has tb3 so hopefully should have a few more options
Cheers
No type-c port tho.
Useless hub
Will this work for Chromecast with Google TV?
I have got three USB C 4k hubs with ethernet connection from Amazon, two would not give internet connection, one would have my monitor blink (blackout) several time a minute. I am in pain and wonder if I should try my luck further…
Theres some clear Power Delivery issues with the device you are connecting to. i dont think these will solve your issues unless you hook upto an external power source.
Do you have any hubs that do 4k@60hz?
