nah same but BACKORDER :p.. i saw that couple of days back..
What does a BACKORDER mean?
means they have ordered it for stock. its not available at the moment. may take couple of days-weeks-months
Couple of questions or 3 for the more informed out there:
Is this router sufficiently spec'd to perform VPN capability for the whole house? I have an older AC68U that could do it but struggles a bit in terms of performance if I run all household traffic through Nord.
Would this mesh well, if at all, with a pair of Deco M9+ devices?
Would one and two above be made any easier by running Merlin firmware assuming it's compatible.
Cheers
2 - Asus Wi-Fi won't be in a mesh with Deco's Wi-Fi. What you can do is put the pair of Deco's in access point mode and have the Asus router running Nord VPN and turn off the Asus Wi-Fi. One Deco has to be hard wired back to the Asus. The second Deco can be hard wired or wireless back to the first Deco.
3 - Not for point 2.
Ok thanks re point 2, that makes sense.
Do you know whether the CPU capability of this device is sufficient to cater for having an always on VPN and not impact performance for the network clients?
It does have a fast quad-core 1.5Ghz processor. Windows Central said it's the best overall for most but didn't provide any VPN speed performance graphs and I can't find graphs anywhere else.
@Twix: Thanks. I will have a look.
Currently $183 but the price seems to jump around a bit!
$153 is still there if you click on the other sellers on Amazon box and choose Amazon AU.
Can the link be updated to https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B08P2MNFBZ/ref=ox_sc_ac…?
Done
Hey,
Could i use this mesh wifi if i buy this router?
https://www.amazon.com.au/All-new-Amazon-eero-6-mesh-wifi-sy…You can. I don't recommend doing so.
1 - plugin eero to the LAN port on the RT-AX55. This is called a double NAT. For casual browsing and Netflix you can get away with double NAT. Double NAT can break access to Plex, cameras, remote access, servers, home automation and more.
2 - plugin eero to the LAN port on the RT-AX55 and configure eero as the access point. This method turns off device bandwidth usage, device blocking and so on.
You don't get all the downsides in point 1 and 2 if you go with an Asus mesh setup or eero 6 only.
I see, so what would be your recommendation to maximise my WIFI. Currently have FTTN 100mbit with internode. PPPoE I believe? Im using the modem/router that came with the setup so the crappy iiNet one.
All my gaming consoles are wired so that's cool. However, as i have a two storey house WIFI is poor.
Do you have recommendations for what i should buy to increase Wi-Fi performance.
Keep the iinet VDSL2 modem and use a pair of Asus RT-AX compatible AiMesh routers or TP-Link Deco M9 or Deco M5. Internode use the PPPoE WAN protocol.
@Twix: Cheers mate, appreciate the info.
Any difference between this and that ?
