Just beware the feature gap is significant, it's technically not even a Yubikey.
Really? But for average users should be enough, right?
Here's the security differences: https://www.yubico.com/au/store/compare/
Well, "Yubikey" is a product brand, so technically it is a Yubikey. What is "limited" about this is it is only for Webauthn/FIDO/FIDO2/U2F, and does not work as a TOTP generator, or as a keystore for PGP/ssh etc.
I don't use my Yubikey for those additional features. I just use it as a second factor on the web, so this cheaper one would work just fine for my use cases.
as you said " does not work as a TOTP generator, I just use it as a second factor on the web"
i am confused as why we need TOTP if we have OTP already?
OTP means with the cheaper yubi, we can just touch the gold circle and we logged in, right?
instead of TOTP typing 6 digits number every time ?@CyberMurning: Here is a decent video on using TOTP and the Yubico Authenticator app. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ybn9J4QCqK4
If you can wait longer for overseas stock (from Yubico's store), this coupon is still active despite the deal being marked expired. My recent orders were posted from Sweden and took 10 and 13 calendar days respectively.
Okay damn it - I saw that code first and cursed my luck for having missed it…is there any way to remove the expired marking on a deal? Bugger!
Other thing I should've noted is the Yubico store ones are sent untracked (the tracked option is ridiculously expensive), so there's also that extra peace of mind with this deal.
as (cheaper, less features) )alternative this one is good price at $39

when they drop to $25ish i may get one or two
without NFC is $31 but NFC better i guess
