Nest Wi-Fi is a fast Wi-Fi AC router and good if you mostly rely on Wi-Fi. The cons are the Nest Wi-Fi base only has two Ethernet ports and none on the Nest Wi-Fi Points, no VLAN ID 802.1Q support for ISPs that use it (iinet & TPG) and is app based and no web login.
Yes. They are very neat and fast and it’s an expandable system. Above response is correct, just consider what you really need and make decision then. For most folks this system is very convenient and performs well.
the extenders also double a google smart speaker as well so thats a nice bonus
I have had a pair of these for 2 years now and they have been fantastic. The range is excellent, stability is great and if you have kids the scheduling via the Google Home app is really easy to use.
Dammit, jumped too fast and paid $6 extra through Bing Lee. Oh well. Thanks OP
how would I intergrade this with my Telstra gen 2 modem? or would these replace this? I already use the four ports on the router to hardwire in my pc and gaming console, the last two ports run to an 8 port switch and to the crappy WIFI mesh disc supplied my Telstra. We also have a large amount of google displays/ speakers too, would this compliment that setup also?
Nest Wi-Fi replaces the Telstra G1 and maybe the Telstra G2 depending on your requirements. The Nest Wi-Fi Points have Wi-Fi, speakers and the Google Assistant built-in. Is your nbn FTTN, FTTB, FTTC, FTTP, HFC?
Do you have any use for Telstra's 4G failover and VoIP phone?
We have FTTN, 4g failover would be nice to keep for when working at home, and we have a voip phone for the kids just in case of emergencies. google assistant built in is nice but each room already has one lol.
For FTTN you use the Telstra G2 bridged to Nest Wi-Fi. The con is 4G failover and VoIP phone doesn't work with this setup.
To keep 4G failover and Telstra's VoIP phone working I suggest you use the Telstra G2 and configure the Deco M9 or M5 from TP-Link as the Wi-Fi access point.
@Twix: Ok. Cool thanks for the reply. How much is the deco m9 or m5 running for these days… wasn't it on sale just recently? Is this easy to achieve? I.e making the tp link my wifi access point?
@JACK SKELLINGTON: Depends if you want 2 or 3 of them. The M5 is in this eBay Afterpay sale. All you do is plugin 1 of the Deco into the Telstra G2 LAN port and configure access point in the TP-Link Deco iOS or Android app.
@Twix: thanks Twix, your help is much appreciated, now of to the eBay sale to investigate the Deco m5.
I am still using the google WiFi, they been great for yrs , just wonder if they can work with Google nest WiFi. it'll be nice to have a mesh network with 5 of them.
Nest Wi-Fi and Google Wi-Fi are backwards compatible. Put the Nest Wi-Fi base as your router and connect the rest from there.
thanks mate, you're a legend.
Does OzB not like Google Nest Wifi?
This looks to be the best price ever for the 3 pack, but very little interest.
I'm looking at this one… is it a good option?

20% off with eBay code. Better then 15% after paying code.
$199.20 is a good price. Maybe get Officeworks or Bunnings to price beat.
I thought the same thing. looks good for a 3 pack. might take a punt and see how it goes. will Bunnings or office works match that?
Officeworks (and JB) will only match prices without any codes. I'm yet to try Bunnings so cannot comment.
If you don't need it straight away, you could wait till it goes down to $175 again.

March - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/611702I'm in no great rush so might as well hold out for a bit. My current set-up will suffice for a while longer… surely it will drop again. Good find there….
Anyone know if the Google nest is a modem router or just a router? TIA.
Router.
are these any good? I am searching for a means to expand my WIFI to eliminate dead spots. I have a Telstra gen 2 modem with the 4g backup, running into the Telstra 1st gen ( disc Shaped ) WIFI extenders. needless to say, these are giving issues. any help would be appreciated.
