So it's available for $100 cheaper at amazon and you post the JB "deal"??

Amazon's model number is slightly different, so can't say if they are the same.

      • +16

JB are arse holes they have a habit of changing a letter so they don't have to price match.

        • +15

          classic bunnings move too

Maybe this post should be changed to Amazon - instead of JB?

Can anyone comment about the value of the kit in particular? $900 seems like a good price for turn-key kit including 8HD 4K Ultra HD cameras and a 2TB of local storage.

      2TB 8 X 4K won't get to much footage, 3 to 4 days I reckon

      • But can you add more storage if you want to with this model?

        • Of course you always can upgrade, manufacture should include a 4TB instead of 2TB, 2TB is kind of a waste as you need to upgrade it anyway

          • @SnoozeAndLose: I'd argue it's sufficient unless you're going on a week plus holiday. In any instance you only need the latest event which should be net accessible.

Unless you have a week long event which is probably more of a concern, would I be wrong in assuming that you could just login and save the most recent event if anything did occur?

Or is this more of a "uhh, something happened a week or 2 ago, can we check your cameras" kind of scenario?

Curious myself as I'm constantly on the look out as prices come down for better kits.

Not a big fan of BNC, prefer the POE stuff.

      • BNC ? POE ?

        • +2

BNC think old school TV aerial connectors to each camera,

POE think Ethernet cables to each camera

          • +3

            @DH: @Tsapena

BNC has video output, but no power. There is an additional power cable for each camera that is run next to the BNC cable providing power. https://youtu.be/O1FA2hpzK1M

POE is power over ethernet. Power and video can be sent via a single ethernet cable.
Once you plug the cable into the box, the box powers the camera and also carries the video.

          • @DH: Thanx

Swann cameras are a joke, quite frankly I just pony up the extra $300 for a Reolink. Swann has many problems ranging from their IOS, Andriod and PC/Mac apps not allowing you to playback footage, crashing and needing multiple apps if you have multiple NVR/DVRs. Their recording quality is a joke and their PIR doesn't always work no matter the sensitivity you set it to. The Hook Up did an excellent comparison between Reolink and Swanns 4k NVR.

    • Thank you, this is the kind of response I was looking for.

    • Agree with this - I've never had any good experience with Swann
