    • ** Please allow up to 2 business days for the cash back to be credited to your credit card account as per their website. Just wondering how long did it take for the points to come through? I just reached the minimum spent.

      • +1

        Thanks, will keep you posted.

It took ages! Well feels like forever.. I think I missed first statement so needed to wait for about 2 more months I think!

        • All good. I see 600 credit in my account today!

    • How long did the bonus points arrive after meeting spending requirements?

      • 2mths

    • want to enquire, does the points only come in on statement date or it could come in at any time after meeting requirement?

      • Mine came a few days after statement date meeting requirements.
Does anyone know if the cash back can be treated as repayment?

        • You would think so, now you got me thinking, banks can do anything when it comes to charging interest. I reduced my upcoming statement payment by $600 assuming this will count towards repayment, can someone confirm this? Otherwise quick call to bank might need to happen.

          • +1

@whatif: Cashback/rebates/refunds/etc do not count as a repayment. But if you pay the owing balance back to zero (incorporating the cashback) it'll be fine. I can confirm having done that with this card and numerous others.

Owe 3000 (minimum payment 90), receive 600 cashback after statement, pay 2400 by due date - all good.

Owe 3000 (minimum payment 90), receive 600 cashback after statement, pay <90 by due date - expect to be told you've missed the minimum repayment, with all the consequences.

  • Damn - didnt read it properly and didn't realise this is potentially only for 'exisiting customers'

Can anyone provide some updated insight if that is the case? I'm a 'new' customer to HSBC currently.

    • Depends on when you applied. It was originally for everyone then they (5 weeks ago?) changed it to existing customers. Just call them up to see if you qualify.

    • new customer, applied last week, got approved today and just got off the phone with HSBC.
i'm still qualified, I'm eligible for the 120k points if i spend $3k in 90 days and the $0 annual fee.

      • Nice - i also spoke to them and they verbally confirmed the same - they also provided me with the 'promo' code, in case that is helpful for anyone?

Shall see if the points come through!

        • Free money!

        • Hey mate, any chance you can share this promo code? I'm planning to apply at the end of this month, thanks!

        • good luck-
          i did the same
they initially said i got approval from a month earlier than i actually did. when i showed them proof they now say i had only 60 days to spend the requirement. -__-

        • Could you please send me the promo code? They confirmed that I was eligible initially but now don't seem to recognise that I am.

        • Did the points end up coming through for you? I wasn't signed up as an existing customer then but was told over the phone that I was eligible. Now I am being told otherwise.

        • What’s the promo code for new customer please?

      • good luck-

  • Does anyone know if this deal is still going? I notice it doesn't have an expiry date, but when I log on to HSBC (just signed up for an acct to become an existing customer) to try find it in the list of card offers I can't, so I can only get to the offer through this precise link on ozbargain (that I can't find from within the HSBC site anywhere).

Thanks bud! I'll give it a shot (looks like I signed up for a new acct to become an existing customer for nothing, but now I've done it I will take advantage of the $100 after 3x$2k monthly deposits and 2% cashback on paywave)

Met the spend 31/8, statement issued on the 4/9, got the bonus points on 10/9.

    • Cheers for this - I hit my spend about a week ago and statement not due till next week, but bonus points received as well.

They perhaps sent out the points in a big update

Im unable to redeem the points for credits at the moment though.

    • Also met the spend around 27th last month and statement issued on 1st, got the bonus points 10th too. Redeem 6 x 100 HSBC Credit..

  • Approved 22/6/21
Met the spend criteria in the same month
    Received 120k points 11/9/21
    Redeemed points for $600 credit

  • What do people do with the leftover points after redeeming the 120k points i.e. if you spent 3K, you'd get 3K points as well as 120k . You redeem the 120k but what can you do with the 3K? There's no gift cards for it that I can see and cannot redeem cashback for it either.

    • +2

I spent $5000 in total to get an additional $25 cashback

      • Hmmm I see, I'll just have to think of stuff to spend on for westpac cc then! Thanks!

        • To spend another 1.5k or so for 25$ cashback isn't really worth it in my books.

I cut my losses there and moved on

      • Had the same idea, except I’m paying for my solar all in one hit ($6k). Let it rain points

  • Applied this morning, approved this evening and confirmed 120k points w/ $3k spend+no annual fee first year.

Have an existing HSBC Global Everyday Account.

    • How was the 120K confirmed? By email or you rang customer service?

      • Phone

        • Thanks, also got approved yesterday. Got my Everyday Global Account last week and wanting to test out the 2% cashback.

          • +1

@BellaWii: I suggest adding it to your mobile wallet as tapping the card is treated by some places (such as Coles) as EFTPOS which won't get you any cashback.

Mobile wallet (Google Pay etc) is always treated as visa transaction.

  • Only became a customer last week after I opened an Everyday Global Account. Applied for the credit card last Friday and today confirmed over the phone I'm eligible for the 120K with $3K spend in 90 days, sweet!

  • After all this time, seems like the 120k link still exists. I used to have a HSBC account (used to have an old Platinum CC with them). Not sure if I would still be eligible for it if I applied as an ex-customer.

  • +1

Hi all - I was told yesterday that you can still apply for this as a new customer if you either call through their products team or go into a branch.

  • Hit spend on 3rd statement… guess it'll be another statement before the points show up =/

  • I called up and spoke with reps, deal is still available despite wording on website even for new customers. However the verification process is absolute trash. Their website continually fails, doesnt load all input boxes, errors etc all day. Their digital team are first rate clowns.

    • Oh. My. God. HSC are a bunch of morons. 4 calls each time asking for different and more stuff. It's like they are looking for a reason to reject. I have no debt and plenty of savings yet the amount of idiotic hoops is seriously ridiculous… and their website buggy af. If i get one more call from these clowns i'll lose it.

  • Approved on 1/11 and got the card today. Not bad in term of sending out card - some other banks took nearly 7 business days to receive the physical card after approval.

  • I got my Latest statement and even tho I've paid off the entire balance before the statement came out, I was charged $10.48 on "Interest on Purchase(s)". I called up HSBC and this is apparently "residual interest" charged because once you accumulate interest, then you lose the 55 day* interest free period.

They've performed a reversal of this but it will only reflect on the next statement, which means I will need to pay this off AND leave this card open for another month so I can get that credit back.

Warning for everyone to check the statement as it comes through in case you are charged the same thing.

    • My understanding is that all cards work that way (could be wrong) but unless you payoff your cc on time all the time you will lose any interest free period for that portion. It happened to me with another card a while back where I had inadvertently scheduled the payment 1 day late. It impacted the interest for the following month.

  • Finally, got approved. First I created a HSBC savings account and transferred 2k so I can use the 2% cashback option, and $100 bonus if you deposit 2k for 3 months in a row.

Then a week later I applied for the platinum card, did the face verification, and then synced my bank account statements (from Up digital bank). But then I had them call me requesting payslips, so sent those.

Then they said they can't see my bank statements, so please send as PDF, so I did that, bit of a hassle.

Then they call again and she can't understand how my pay is deposited fortnightly, for two amounts, because payroll simply calculates weekly and pays fortnightly as two separate transactions. Had to explain this to her 3 times, I got kinda angry as I just woke up.

Anyway, later that day, it was approved. Still haven't received the Debit card, it's been longer than 7 biz days but probs due to Auspost issues.

  • Anyone received the 120k points recently? Going from previous comments they distribute them at set dates.

    • Reached $3k spend on 11 Oct and still waiting for the 120k to appear.

      • Same boat here, met spend around 20th Oct.

  • I hit on Oct 1st. They said 60 days.. so hopefully dec 1st

  • I applied for the credit card today online and rang them on the phone to clarify this promotion. They confirmed that this promotion is still running for new customers.

  • +1

Check your balance guys. I got my points today

    • Just checked, points are there. It wasn't there this morning.

  • Received my points too! Though my statement was just generated today - does that mean I need to pay my full balance in cash, then spend a further $600 to clear my next statement? Or do the points count towards paying off the balance once I redeem it for cashback?

    • I think yes if the statement came before the redemption hit. Seems stupid to me though. I ended up moving to velocity now that redemptions are on and there's a 20% bonus

      • Thanks for the info!

        • But if you were done churning, you can simply do the $600 credit, let it credit go to negative and when you close it, they can send the balance to your bank account

          • @freestyle18: All good, I just paid my council fees - doesn't earn points anyways and no CC fee :)

    • Is there a way see on the app/website how much $ is needed to be spent to meet the requirements?

I just got the card and don’t know if I even have been given the ability to get the 120000 points

      • Yes you get 1 Reward Point per eligible dollar spent, therefore if you have 3000 Reward points you would have spent $3000 (again, eligible spend) and meet the required spend for the points.

Give them a call and they will confirm if the promo is on your account.

        • Thanks mate

Anyone considering spending another $2K to get to 125K points and get $625 cashback? I think I will.

    • Me too. Have reached $3.5K and while waiting for my next card from Citibank, I'll continue using this.

    • I debated. but I'd rather waste a few hundred points and close it earlier to move onto the next card

  • Anyone received the bonus points recently, could you tell how long you have to wait after reached the spending requirement?

    • +1

Sweet, just notice the bonus points are now showed up - 3 days after the 2nd statement.

  • +1

Called today to verify, not applicable to new customers anymore.

    • but the link to the promo still there.

    • it says 'existing customers' only

      • Yeah, I was just replying as a few comments above stated that they are new customers and were still able to get the promo even though the link states 'existing customers' only.

        • +3

If you want to apply for this card and not an existing customer, just apply for their Debit account first. Do the $2K transactions to get $100 bonus. I believe after a month joined HSBC, you'll receive the email invite to signup for the Platinum CC card with this promotion - that what had happened with my partner's newly created account.

          • @timhn: To what period would you be considered an existing customer though? I've been a HSBC customer since Mar.

            • @PeeDee: For my partner, she got the invitation letter for this promo within a month or so after applied for the debit account.

If you already with them, and since the link for this promo still active, just apply via this one. My partner didn't apply via the email link straight away. When she did try to apply from the link in the invited email, it went to page not found. End up used this link here and all went well. Got bonus without problem.

    • I am not a customer with HSBC, I applied for the card in the morning and just got an approval email

Being approved for your HSBC Platinum Credit Card is fantastic.
      Approved Credit Limit: $15000.00
      Disclosure date: 20220222

      • Might want to confirm if you are eligible for the points as the link mentions existing customers only for the points.

        • Checked and I am not, I will cancel the card soon, thanks

          • @Kolagenplus: You should do as described above. My partner has received 2 emails (with unique URL) invited for this deal after signup for the transaction account.

  • Is there anyone here who got a "confirmation of $3k spend and points will be credited within 60 days", but still hasn't got bonus points after 60 days? Trying to figure out if I'm doing everything right before applying for the same card for my partner. Seems like everyone here got points within 7-8 weeks maximum. Thanks!

    • I got the points on around statement date after meeting $3k requirements

    • +1

Upon calling HSBC they pointed out that I had one overseas transaction which is not included in the spending limit amount as per their rewards program T&Cs:
"Bonus points and promotional points will be awarded in response to transactions occurring within Australia unless otherwise specified.".
So, they do allocate regular points for international transactions, but this spending won't be counted towards the spending limit for promotional points. That's what got me, I should've known better than spending $3000-$3100 precisely (moved on to another CC) :-(

      I hope this helps others!

P.S. I don't see a point in disputing this, but if anyone has other opinions, please let me know.

      • +1

Another update. Just checked my account and points arrived with yesterday's statement (3d or 4th already, with 0 balance). I haven't escalated anything apart from the above. It was either glitch in their system in the first place, or someone manually applied points to my account as a courtesy. The happy outcome, but will be mindful of international transactions next time for sure!

        • So in short your international transactions did count towards the bonus spend?

          • +1

@Rosace: I wouldn't be so certain. Considering all my conversations with different CRs from HSBC, timeline compared to all other members here, and reading Rewards Points T&Cs, I'd rather not risk and spend a bit more, excluding international transactions (besides, they trigger fees). I'm inclined to think that in my case it was HSBC courtesy to give me bonus points.

            • +1

@goodfella: Understood, thanks for the full insight on the topic :)

  • Anyone still able to register?

    • I did last week and was finally approved today. Hopefully the promo is honoured.

  • +1

Been waiting for the points for over 1month+ now

    • Call em?

  • If I link my beem it to hsbc and bpay a bill. Would that qualify as a purchase?

  • I've just ticked over my 12 month exclusion period and thinking about churning again given that it still seems valid. I have had the debit card for years.

Anyone churned this deal for a second time?

    • +1

I'm about to churn for the second time once I'm finished with NAB. I'll report back.
